Vacation Rental Description
As you drive down the winding road to La Casita the panoramic view of the beautiful landscape and the canyon of the Rio Sil opens up welcoming you to the unspoiled rural landscape and to the charming stone farmhouse below. Surrounded by wild life and birdsong La Casita is located in the tranquil hamlet of Portabrosmos offering some spectacular walks and within easy walking distance of the river. This recently restored spacious two bedroomed farmhouse with wooden beams and original features is on two floors and furnished to a high standard. The upper floor consists of a large open plan kitchen/diner/living room (45sqm) overlooking the vineyards and river. Comfortable, light and airy it is ideally suited for families with young children and provides lots of space for them to play and move around in whilst being adequately supervised. The lounge consists of two three seater sofas (which can double as sofa beds), occasional tables, television, dvd and cd player. The dining area seats four to six people and the kitchen is equipped with all cutlery, crockery, china and linens, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, microwave, kettle, coffee machine, hob and toaster. A circular staircase separates both floors. On the lower floor there are two bedrooms and a large shower room. The hall leads out onto the two terraces. Bedroom One consists of a double bed, bedside tables and lamps, wardrobe and a pedestal fan. It overlooks the terrace, vineyards and river.
Bedroom Two consists of a set of bunk beds (which can be used singly), wardrobe and a bedside table. There is also a pedestal fan in the room. The room, too, looks out onto the vineyards.
The fully tiled shower room consists of a sink, toilet, bidet and roomy shower cubicle, and also has a cabinet with shaver socket. The shower room separates both bedrooms.
The light and airy hall leads out on to the terraces. One is ideal for sunbathing and is equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas. Clematis, honeysuckle and a vine provide privacy. The other is shaded by vines and perfect for dining al fresco or just chilling out with a bottle of the local wine. It is tiled and gravelled. Both terraces overlook the vineyards and river. Access to the river is about a 10 minute walk away.
There is parking for one car in the front courtyard.
Facilities
The historic town of Monforte de Lemos offers the opportunity to visit the wine museum, or magnificent colexio, or even just enjoy one of the many events that take place all year round, enjoy a tapa and refreshment at one of the many bars and experience the traditional cuisine available in the restaurants close by. Places to visit: Os Chancis for the old water mills, Ourense for natural hot springs, Vigo for beaches, Islas de Cies for natural reserve park, Lugo for its roman wall and Santiago de Compostela for its cathedral, parador and town. Things to do: monasteries, as well as experiencing the local fiestas. Activities: golf, tennis, swimming, quad biking, canoeing, fishing, horse riding, walking, painting, cycling, bird watching, boat trips, visit the ancient roman goldmines, wine trail, wine museum, spectacular scenic drives, or just relaxing and chilling out enjoying a local fiesta and much more.
Activities
Canoeing and quad biking are available. Please enquire for information. Please note that driving licences are necessary for quad biking.
Fishing licences are necessary and can be purchased on arrival (approximately 3 euros for two weeks).
There is an 18 hole golf course about 10-12 kms away. Buggies and golf clubs are available for hire. There is also a driving range.
There is a man made sandy beach with restaurant about 20 kms away.
Skiing is available in the winter and is about one hour's drive from La Casita.
Hot spas are situated in Ourense and Lugo.
Indoor and outdoor swimming pools and tennis courts are situated in Monforte as well as three pools in Sober.
There are indoor and outdoor children's parks in Monforte de Lemos and Sober.
