River Ebro Apartments have an enviable position on the banks of the River Ebro in Mora d'Ebre, Southern Catalonia. Here you can enjoy a holiday away from the well-worn tourist traps, amid stunning mountain scenery, and yet still be only 25 minutes drive from the Costa Dorada. Since the apartments are located on a quiet street at the edge of town you can enjoy river and countryside walks in one direction and in the other be only 5 minutes stroll from the town centre. So you have a great rural feel without being isolated. Mora d'Ebre itself has a surprisingly wide variety of bars, restaurants, supermarkets,stylish shops, internet café and a fabulous public outdoor swimming pool. Nevertheless, it is still very much a rural Spanish town and along with the modern facilities you are just as likely to see farmers driving tractors through town with their trailers brimming with cherries, peaches, grapes, almonds or olives.
Our comfortable holiday apartments have been carefully converted from a typical 4 storey Spanish house. Les Papallonas is the 2nd floor apartment. It is bright and spacious and accommodates up to 7 people. It is furnished and equipped to a high standard so that it is a true "home from home". There is a large family bedroom with a double bed and a single bed. The second bedroom has 2 single beds and there is a double sofa-bed in the lounge. We can also provide a cot plus all bedding,changing mat and potty free of charge. The kitchen/dining room has ample workspace and cupboards,a full size hob and oven and all the utensils, pots and pans that you are likely to need. There is also a washing machine, ironing board and iron. The large pine dining table is positioned in front of the patio doors to the balcony which gives you great views over the river. The lounge has Satellite TV (Sky freeview), DVD, CD/radio, books and games. Guests also have free use of our 5 mountain bikes.
The Ebro itself is a premier fishing location famous for its huge catfish and carp. Fishing guides are available nearby as are boat trips and canoe hire.
With no less than 3 Natural Parks within easy reach (Montsant, Els Ports and the Ebro Delta) it is an ideal location for nature lovers and birdwatchers and there are dozens of walking and cycling trails to suit every ability.
The region is rich in history and there are picturesque villages, castles and monasteries to explore. Against the stunning landscapes they also provide plenty of subject matter for the artist or photographer.
If you want lazy days on the beach, the golden sands of the Costa Dorada are only a 25 minute drive. Here you can find quiet coves, pretty fishing ports or some low-key resorts with beach bars and restaurants. For a livlier day out you could visit the busy resort of Salou and its neighbouring theme park Port Aventura (a Universal Studios theme park with white knuckle rides, entertainment and shows)
Just 45 minutes away is the World Heritage Site of Tarragona which has some of the best Roman remains outside of Italy.
The vibrant city of Barcelona is a only a 2 hour drive or train journey and makes a very worthwhile day-trip or is ideal to combine a two-centre holiday with a delightful contrast of city and countryside.
