Vacation Rental Description
La Polvoreria, is an old "Masia" (tipical Catalan contry-side house) build up before 1630, since is from those days we have found documents of the house. At those days, it belonged to a gun-powder miller, who had a serious accident due to an explosion, and was badly injured. After this accident, he had just the time to write his will, and is due to this fact that today we have notice of him. From those days, the house has been remodeled several times on the following centuries.Today is a comfortable house with 5 double rooms, 2 complete baths, an independent WC, and a large and well equipped kitchen - dining room. The lobby is used as a sitting room, from which a large staircase drives to the upper floor, where four of the five rooms are placed. The ground floor room is a comfortable "Suite".
Bigues i Riells (at 35 km from Barcelona) is a small village despite of having a population of about 8000 people. Nevertheless, it has not an important old nucleus. Like the majority of the villages nearby, their expansion starts during the 70's, with multiple housing estates. Traditionally, it use to have several small nucleus formed by farm-houses quite picturesque.
The village has several interesting sites. The surrounding mountains, known as Cingles de Bertí, the river Tenes, small, but with sites of dream, around which lays the origins of the village due to the water resource, and Sant Miquel del Fai, unique within the Romanic architecture, placed amongst the falls of the long cliff. The fact of being close to Barcelona's metropolitan area, with good roads to connect with the whole Catalonia, converts it as an excellent base to program visits to many interesting turistic or leisure places.
Placed at Vallès Oriental region, is very close to the Massis del Monseny, to the seaside of Maresme, to Barcelona and to the thermal villages of Caldes de Montbui and La Garriga. It is necessary to point out other little villages nearby, like Granera, Gallifa, Sant Sebastia de Montmajor, lovely by themselves, and the neighbour regions of Bages and Osona, beautiful regions for their natural sites, low density population, and peaceful environment.
Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia. A highly industrialized city, with 1,7 million people and more than 2 million in its metropolitan area, is the very centre of the Catalan commerce, industry and culture. Barcelona concentrates the main characteristic of the main world capitals: an important offer of museums and art collections, a huge trade fair and activities at international level, which range from sports to remarkable scientific, political and social events. A detailed visit of Barcelona is essential to value its magnificent architecture, beginning from ancient roman wall, the gothic quarter, important modernist buildings, and innovative constructions, like an enormous photovoltaic panel installed at the recently remodeled seaside.
Facilities
A beautifull flat grass garden, with garden furniture and with big trees to give some shadow, is ideal to spend time with the family or your friends. An undercover barbeque is at your disposal. The site is located next to a riverside, so plenty of birds fly arround. A large amount of walking paths are ptracticable, and wild sightseeing clifts domine the northen side of the vilage. An impresive birds of pray recovering and show center is at 8 km distance, on the way of an ancient romanic monastery called Sant Miquel del Fai. many "lost" small vilages in the sorrounding zone give a contarst with the proximity of Barcelona.
Activities
Many small (9 holes) and non-expensive golf courses are within the first 10 km radious, and a few 18 holes are in the 30 km radious.
