ABOUT TENERIFE

Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and lies in the Atlantic Ocean approximately 120 miles off the coast of north west Africa. The weather in Tenerife is one of the healthiest and most pleasant in the world. Exceptionally mild winters and warm, but not too overpowering summers mean you can enjoy a year round holiday climate. Tenerife enjoys up to 11 hours of sunshine in the summer months, which means it is the sun-lovers paradise Island. The temperature in Tenerife averages 26º centigrade with not much variation throughout the year, making Tenerife the perfect getaway in the winter months from those long dark and cold days of England.

Whilst in Tenerife you will find the volcanic landscapes quite dramatic on the south of the island or if visiting the north of the island you will find lush sub-tropical vegetation. There are many activities to be enjoyed in Tenerife ranging from the most gentle to the sportiest, including jeep safari’s, camel parks, tropical gardens, the famous ‘Loro Parque’ parrot park, Siam Park, Aqualand, Las Aguilas which features a spectacular birds of prey show, a whale and dolphin trip is a must, and for the sports minded tennis, squash, horse riding, four golf courses including a 27 hole championship course and of course all year round water sports and if none of that appeals Tenerife is the perfect place to enjoy lazy days around the pool or at the beach.

LOS GIGANTES

Los Gigantes was declared a place of National Tourist Importance in the mid 1960 's and since then has been developed in a tasteful and charming way. Just walking through the resort and taking in the fantastic array of trees and tropical flowers makes your stay here so much more colourful and pleasant. It is still referred to by residents as 'the village'. Its name is derived from the magnificent cliffs that dominate the view across the picturesque harbour.

In Los Gigantes you can while away the day soaking up the sun or enjoy the facilities at the marina, including trips to see the resident dolphins, self-drive boat hire or scuba diving. Have a game of tennis or bowls, then spoil yourself with a mouth watering choice of restaurants and bars where you can enjoy superb food and be entertained by top class cabaret acts, and for getting back to your apartment at the end of it all, the local taxis are comfortable and inexpensive.

In Los Gigantes there is a small sheltered beach alongside the harbour wall. However there is a larger beach located in Playa de la Arena which is a couple of stops on the bus, a short taxi ride or about a 25minute walk. The village boasts three leisure parks with swimming pools, tennis courts, crazy golf and bowls.

There is also a local church, fronted by a plaza with cafes and traditional Canarian entertainment is often provided by talented groups of local musicians.

Los Gigantes is also an ideal base from which to explore the rest of Tenerife. Coach tours can be booked locally and an excellent bus service runs frequently from outside the Holiday Leisure Centre at the top of the village. Los Gigantes is approximately 45 minutes drive from Tenerife South Airport.

MOUNT TEIDE
Mount Teide is in the centre of the Teide National Park. At 3,717.91 metres above sea level, the highest point is the highest peak in Spain and the volcano is the third tallest in the world. The volcano last erupted in 1898. There are spectacular views to be seen from many of the view-points. However for those wishing to view from the summit there is a cable car that operates (weather permitting). The journey to Mount Teide offers spectacular views as you travel through the pine forests and lava flows.

The apartment has everything you will need to enjoy your holiday. The open plan lounge/kitchen has 2 large sliding patio doors which open onto the fabulous large terrace, a comfortable sofa bed, cableTV with CNN and Eurosport, DVD/CD player, lots of storage and ceiling fan. There are also a few books, DVD's and Cd's which you are welcome to use or add to. The kitchen has a breakfast bar with 4 chairs, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and a large array of cooking utensils and crockery. (The local supermarket will deliver to your door when you spend over 20 Euros). The bedroom has twin beds, bedside table with light, ceiling fan and large double built in wardrobes. The bathroom has a vanity unit with basin, bidet, bath with good shower and washing machine. The large terrace has a dining table with 4 chairs and 2 sun-beds. It is not overlooked from the front and has fabulous views overlooking Los Gigantes, the cliffs and bay beyond

Los Gigantes known locally as “ the village “ is connected to Puerto de Santiago by a short coastal walk during which you will catch your first glimpse of the stunning cliffs. Los Gigantes translated means “ The Giants “ and they truly are well named. The cliffs rise spectacularly from the sea and are an unforgettable sight. Once in “ the village “ you can meander your way around enjoying all the amenities, go to the beach, take a walk around the harbour, swim in the rock pool, or set sail onboard one of the whale and dolphin watching boats, or just sit and watch the world go by at one of the many bars and restaurants. As the sun sets over La Gomera why not have a meal in one of the many mouth watering restaurants and bars where you can enjoy superb food and be entertained by top class cabaret acts, and as for getting back to your apartment at the end of the evening, the local taxis are comfortable and inexpensive.
