Casa Mariposa is a privately owned, luxury, three bedroom holiday villa for rent near the Montecastillo Centre in Caleta de Fuste, Fuerteventura. It comes complete with everything you need for your 2010 or 2011 self-catering family holiday - including your own private hot tub on the terrace. 
The villa is in an ideal location just minutes from the Montecastillo Centre with shops, bars and restaurants - essential for a stress-free, self-catering family holiday - and less than 10 minutes walk from Caleta's resort centre for a wider choice of eating places, bars, shops, entertainment and sandy beaches. A 5 minute drive will take you to one of Fuerteventura's 18 hole golf courses. 
Casa Mariposa is within easy walking distance of sandy beaches, for which Fuerteventura is famous, and water sports or a trip in a glass bottomed boat are available in the harbour area. A car is not necessary to enjoy a holiday in our villa as everything is within walking distance. 
Caleta is an ideal choice for a 2010 "get away from it all" self-catering villa holiday rental for the whole family in the Canary Islands - school holidays, spring, Easter, summer, autumn or winter (including Christmas)! 
Cheap charter flights are available from Belfast, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, Cardiff, Dublin, East Midlands, Gatwick, Glasgow, Leeds/Bradford, Luton, Manchester, Newcastle and Stansted. 
 
Interior: 
Casa Mariposa is a luxury home-from-home villa providing a truly peaceful holiday for families or couples, yet within easy reach of all that Caleta has to offer its holidaymakers. The whole villa has been carefully furnished in Canarian style with the comfort and convenience of our holidaymakers in mind, including fans in the lounge, kitchen and all three bedrooms. It has quality furnishings throughout and its high ceilings and marble floors create a light airy feeling. The spacious layout, fully equipped kitchen and all the extra touches provide very comfortable self-catering holiday accommodation for up to six people. 
House linen and towels are supplied but please bring your own beach towels. The price includes FREE airport transfers, a generous FREE welcome pack, spa maintenance during your holiday and FREE internet access for the duration of your holiday (but please bring your own laptop). 
 
Exterior: 
Casa Mariposa stands in a private corner plot with garden areas and has a really spacious terrace with sea views, garden furniture, including loungers with cushions, and a BBQ and, of course, your own private, heated spa - hot tub - jacuzzi - call it what you will - it's great! Off-street parking is also available if you decide to hire a car. Although the backdrop to Caleta is known as Chipmunk Mountain, and there is a lot of building work going on up there, there is no building work near Casa Mariposa! 
The mountain itself is the traditional home of the island's chipmunks. They are little creatures similar to squirrels - who live among the rocks. However, it is easier to find one near the walkway which runs along the coast and links the two beach areas - although we did have one sitting on a palm tree just outside our garden wall in March 2007! - see him in one of the pictures in the photo galleries at www.casa-mariposa.co.uk

Additional Facilities; The kitchen is well equipped with a full oven and ceramic hob, as well as the usual small appliances like toaster, kettle, iron etc. It has plenty of cutlery, crockery, kitchenware, utensils and glasses for six visitors and we've even remembered the tea towel for the dryer-up! When you arrive your generous welcome pack will be waiting for you, so that you can enjoy a drink and snack whenever your flight lands. The benefit of a self-catering holiday is that you can eat what you want when you want and Casa Mariposa's large lounge also has plenty of space for a family sized dining table and 6 chairs in front of the bay window, which overlooks the garden.

Travel Options
  • Nearest Airport : Fuerteventura at 10 miles distance;
  • Travel Info: Caleta (also known as El Castillo or just Castillo) centres on holidays for families and couples so you won't find late night clubs or discos. You certainly don't need to hire a car to enjoy a stay in Casa Mariposa as the centre of the resort is less than 10 minutes walk away and there are shops and restaurants within 2 minutes walk. However, there are many car hire firms with offices in Caleta if you would like to explore more of the island independently. There is a Tourist Information Office in the centre of the resort where you can find details of several places of interest to visit. We have also left some brochures and flyers in the villa to give you an idea of what the island has to offer and some of our visitors have added their suggestions to the Visitors' Book. Caleta is approximately half way down the east coast of the island so it makes a great base from which to discover more of what Fuerteventura has to offer. Go north to Corralejo and see the famous sand dunes on the way to Baku Water Park (approximately 45 minutes drive). Go south to La Lajita Oasis Park Zoo and continue on to the magnificent beaches of Jandia (also about 45 minutes drive). Sotavento beach near Jandia hosts the annual Fuerteventura Windsurfing and Kitesurfing championships in July and August.

Thank you for the use of your lovely villa - a wonderful position with views of the sea and surrounding landscape and in excellent condition, with all you need to have a great break in the sun.
We recently suffered a family tragedy and Janette was wonderfully sensitive to this and allowed at short notice for us to bring all our children. Caroline who manages the accommodation was a true angel who responded to any needs or concerns we had whilst at the villa.
We hope to return to this truly lovely place when able and would like Janette and Bill to know that our break in Casa Mariposa was a great part in the healing process we are going through.

This is the 3rd time our growing family has stayed here now, and it was just as good as before. 2 parents, 2 grandparents, a 6 year old and a 3 year old all had a nice relaxing time. We used the pool round the corner which was always nice and quiet, the bar did great coffee, and the hot tub was a nice morning treat. The walk to the beach got the blood moving, and at the centre there are nice friendly restaurants with playgrounds to keep the kids busy. No driving was required, which was good, and led to a very nice relaxing break. I would recommend it for a quiet break with enough to do to keep young kids happy. Would come again.

We had such a lovely time at Casa Mariposa! This is the fourth Lanza/Fuerte villa we have stayed in and my husband and I preferred this layout by far to the others. The kitchen opening into the terrace was great and very light and I liked the bedrooms/bathroom layout, all together at the one end of the villa.
The small touches really made a difference - the pick up/return service with child car seats and super friendly Dave was fantastic and made the start and end of our holiday very very relaxing as we didn't have to think about transfers. The welcome pack was a huge hit too!
We didn't rent a car and didn't miss not having one, we enjoyed the walk and burning off dinner on the way back up the hill (we needed to!). The spa was fab too though we didn't get in often enough with the littlies around.

Stayed in the Villa August 2010. This was definitely home from home with the fantastic spacious and well kept Villa, Hot tub and outside patio. Town and beach just 5mins away and never once used a taxi. Very well organised including transfers to and from airport, internet access during our stay and also the arrival pack was a nice touch ... definitely will be back.

Here's our comments of our stay at your lovely Villa in Caleta de Fuste. I can honestly say it has been one of the best and most relaxing holidays I have had in a long time.
The villa was at a superb standard and the hot tub to die for - very relaxing after a day's sunbathing. We all went in it every day. ...The space in the villa was perfect and it had everything we needed and more, so clean and fresh, although the management team forgot us for our mid-holiday clean, but I e-mailed them and they came out the next day to refresh our towels and bedding and give the villa a through once over. They left us a bottle of wine in the fridge as a token apology which was nice of them.
The welcome pack was excellent especially as we arrived later in the evening and the transport spot on too. Caleta de Fuste is one of the best resorts I've ever been to - nobody was in it to rip you off, and we got good value for money everywhere we went.
Pierro's is excellent as it had entertainment on every night and was good for teenagers too.
Overall loved the villa and the resort and we will be back. I've already recommended it to all my friends.
