We ask for a 25% deposit to secure the booking. The balance along with the fully refundable breakage/unreasonable cleaning deposit of £200 should be paid about 10 weeks before arrival.
Payments by bank transfer into English or Spanish bank account.

Our holiday started with a warm welcome from the owners - who also offer jeep safari's of the island
The villa was well presented, clean and well equipped -
and had a real home from home feel.
The amenities at Calan Porter were a short stroll away - nice to visit, but even nicer to retreat to the quietness and calm of the villa
Would definately recommend

What a beautiful villa! Very well maintained, clean with a homely feel to it. Bedrooms were all spacious and the whole villa was well equipped. The pool was clean and quite big compared to some of the others I saw! The garden had a grass area which kept cool during the hottest times of the day when concrete is too hot to walk on in bare feet!
Location was great - within easy walking distance of the beach so great if you've got kids. Also close by to shops, restaurants and the caves - which are great to visit in the day and at night.
Calan Porter is quiet compared to other towns but it's beach is one of the best I've been to. We didn't hire a car and to be honest we didn't need one. The owner, Francis, took us on a tour of the island in a land rover so we covered most of the sites in a day. He also found us a secluded beach that was not too touristy and was excellent for swimming.
A great villa that I would love to return to and would recommend to everyone.

We had an absolutely time at both Cala Porter and especially the beautiful house that was perfect with the pool and the great rooms + perfect location to the beach, the shopping areas and overall. The place is equally matched the warmth and hospitality of the owners. It was such a gracious welcome and freindly support that the overall feeling was being welcomed in a family than a mere rental. Maica and Francis provide genuine caring support (far more than one could ask for) - when we had to rush to hospital in the evening with our son, it was simply that Francis and Maica were there to do whatever they could and they did far more we could have asked of them! These little things represent far more of the genuineness than any advertisements.
Simply put we had a great time on the island (beauty, beaches, food, history, the Caves +++) and the wonderful house. Add in Francis absolutely wonderful safari trip and it is vacation we will look forward to doing such a great vacation again (sans the evening hospital runs :-))

Our first family holiday abroad
Andy, Tess and Kids Wales, UK
Review Submitted: October 30, 2010 Date of Stay: October 2010
This was our 1st experience taking all 5 children abroad so was always going to be a challenge! Francis was very helpful throughout the booking process and arranged airport transfers for us. The villa exceeded our expectations, was very clean, spacious and very well equipped for self catering holiday. The bedrooms well laid out for the larger family and the kids particularly like the loft bed in the twin room.Situated in a beautiful village overlooking the see with breathtaking views of Mallorca across the bay it had a fantastic pool area which the kids loved (and used every day), the roof terrace was nice too if you just wanted to chill and have a look at what's going on!
As it was our 1st holiday abroad together we opted to come to Menorca during the quieter season in October to avoid all the hustle and bustle.Cala en Porter can be described as a very safe haven for families with children as the people are so friendly, the locals (both British and Spanish) are very helpful. The village is well stocked with 2 main supermarkets (one is a Spar) and a further smaller one. Restaurants are in abundance, Sa Paissa is nice, Galleon(more British) and the kids loved the food at La Salamandra which did HUGE kids meals for just 4 euros. Not all bars/restaurants were open due to the time of year visiting but that didn't matter to us.
Beach was nice, sea very warm and safe for little ones as it's shallow water for quite a way - mind the dips in the sand banks though! Steep walk down the steps but you can walk down the road which is only a little bit further. Beach was about 10-15mins walk from the villa.and you can walk across the clifftop road much of the way which is nice.
Out of season weather, well we went mid October and apart from a couple of heavy showers the weather was pleasant all week. Menorca has this northerly wind that rings in a lot of cloud on some days but it clears quickly too, we had 3 days of little wind and mainly unbroken sunshine when it felt about 22c which for us Brits is very nice! The remainder was about 19-20c cloudy with Sunny spells. In summary we had a great holiday, very relaxing and low key which was always our intention first time out with the kids. Would definitely go back just in the high season next time. A superb vila exactly what we needed, and a very friendly owner who is very helpful.

We had a great holiday right from the start with Francis arranging the airport transfers (which were excellent) then a most sincere and warm welcome from Maica and Alan (Francis wife and son).
The villa was very nice and clean with plenty of room and well equipped for a family, the garden has lots of different plants including a lemon tree which produced very large lemons (great for drinks). The swimming pool is super but as we went in the last week of October the pools are a little cool. The beach however in Cala en Porter is ideal for swimming as the sea is much warmer than the pools this time of year. There are two ways to the beach down many steep steps or down a winding road, once there you will find bars restaurants and souvenir shops.
The walk from the villa is about 20-25 mins to the centre of Cala en Porter and the local bus runs from nearby to Mahon(Mao) the capital of Menorca, and costs only 1.60 euros each way.
In Cala en Porter itself there are many bars and restaurants all suitable for families with children.A couple of our favourties were Bar Merlin where football fans can follow their teams, they also serve good snacks and english beer.It is run by a couple from Newcastle and they are extremeley friendly. The other was Pintos or Pitos where they serve large portions and reasonably priced.
Also worth a trip is the glass botton boat from the port in Mahon it costs 10 euros each well worth it.
Out of 7 days we had 4 days on the beach 2 days were dull with some rain and 1 shopping. All in all for the time of the year it was a really great holiday. We would definitley return.
Many thanks to Francis and his family.

Perfect Stay for Families

We (two German families, 2+2) had a wonderful time this summer at Francis' villa; the house and garden fulfilled our expectations in every way- especially the pool was a highlight for everybody. Cala en Porter is a good starting point for exploring the island with all its beautiful bays and interesting places.
Also, we strongly recommend to join one of Francis Jeep-Safaris which took us to places not easily to be discovered by tourists.
So, don't hesitate to book and enjoy a wonderful time at a wonderful place hosted by a very polite and helpful owner.

This villa was a home away from home for us (5 adults and 4 pre-teens) for almost 10 days this summer (July 2010). It is spacious, sunny, super clean, well-maintained, fully equipped, and has a lovely backyard pool and patio. Indeed, the listing and the pictures understate how nice the place is.
The backyard had a nice garden which stayed cool even during the hottest times of the day, and the large pool was the highlight for our kids. We really enjoyed having our meals and drinks by the barbeque on the patio next to the pool, and then going upstairs to watch the sunsets from the terrace.
The location was great – close to stores, restaurants, and the popular dance club in the "Caves of Xoroi", so we didn't need a car most of the time. The beach is a short ten-minute walk, and one of the best we've ever been to. When we wanted to go sight seeing, Francis - the owner of the villa - took us one day on a great tour of the island in a couple of land rovers. When we felt like exploring the island on our own, we rented Francis' VW van as needed.
Francis and his wife Maica are unusually warm and caring hosts. They virtually adopted our family as their own, dropping whatever they were doing late one evening to drive one of our sick children to a hospital several miles away! We reccomend them and their villa highly, and look forward to returning there ourselves some day soon.
