Vacation Rental Description
First floor luxury apartment in a quiet residential area just 5 minutes walk from Cala Marcal beach, shops, bars and restaurants and 10 minutes walk to the beautifully picturesque harbour of Porto Colom.
The apartment has a terrace overlooking the sea on one side, woodland on the other and mountains to the rear with some stunning views.
The complex itself features a large communal pool and children's pool overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
Over 30 beaches can be reached by car - many less than five minutes drive away, none more than 20 minutes, and towns such as Cala d'Or, Es Llombards and Santanyi featuring some superb bars and restaurants are but as short ride by car, taxi or bus.
This area of Majorca is renowned for its excellent beaches, all accessible from Porto Colom. The main beach of Cala Marcal is a two minute walk from the apartment. It's cleaned every morning and has a lifeguard on duty,as a result it has been awarded the internationally recognised blue flag. The beach slopes gently into the sea and is still only a few feet deep some 15 to 20 yards away from the shore, making it ideal for children. During the summer months it's not uncommon to see organised sports competitions like volley ball and beach football being held here, and sea taxis depart throughout the day to the nearby beaches at Cala d'Or and Cala Figuera.
At the entry to the harbour are the twin beaches of s'Arenal "gran", which literally translates into English as "a place where there is a lot of sand" and the smaller s'Arenal "petit".If you are lucky enough to be visiting Porto Colom in July, s'Arenal beach is the site of the "sopar a penyes" dinner which forms part of the the fiesta celebrations.
The beach of Cala Sa Nau is 2km to the south of the town, and at weekends becomes very popular with the local residents of the village of s'Horta.
Cala Ferrera is the last beach going south, it lies on the border between the municipalities of Felanitx and Santanyi. Although technically still part of Felanitx the nearest town to the beach is Cala d'Or, which is the principle resort of Santanyi. Again, as with Cala Sa Nau this beach would only be accessible from Porto Colom if you have access to a hire car.
Public transport along the east coast is good. A regular bus service runs inland to town of Felanitx, which is certainly worth the trip for the Sunday market, and a regular bus service runs to Palma.
If you don't fancy the Felanitx Sunday market, many of the same traders also have stalls at the twice weekly market held at Porto Colom on Tuesday and Saturday throughout the year. Markets on Majorca start quite early in the morning, most at around 8am, and the traders will disappear early in the afternoon before the heat of the day starts to set in.
A trip to Mallorca wouldn't be the same if you missed one of the local Fiestas. The two in Porto Colom are, The Fiesta of the Three Kings, which takes place early January each year, and the "La Verge del Carme", which is held during mid July.
If you've hired a car the east coast does have a number of other attractions worth a visit. The Caves of Hams are famous for their peculiar formations, and for their marvelous underground lake. If you are driving they are 2km west of Porto Cristo. Opening times from March to October is 10am to 6pm and from November to February 10:30am to 5:30pm. Entrance fee for adults is around £6.00.
The property is ideally located for a host of different things, whether it be a beach holiday, sightseeing or an activity break and would suit couples and families with and without a car.

The terrace has a table and 6 chairs and a state-of-the-art outdoor sofa. The large communal swimming pool and children's pool are situated within easy walking distance of the apartment. There are also portable sun loungers, inflatables, CDs, DVDs and children's DVDs and games in the apartment. The kitchen is fully equipped and also features a toastie maker and George Foreman grill.

Four beaches are loated within Porto Colom/Cala Marsa and over a dozen more are but a short car/bus/sea taxi ride away.

It's a two minute walk to Cala Marcal beach and one minute walk to the secluded Cala Brafi beach. Ten minutes drive to the beautiful tranquil Cala Sa Nau and between 10 and 20 minutes drive to over a dozen other beaches in the area.

Ten minutes walk to Porto Colom Port.

Golf: The Vall D'or Golf Course is four kliometres away.

A Luxury Holiday At An Affordable Price

We are a couple with two children. Since 2001 we had been looking for a modern property in Majorca that fulfilled our requirements. Six years later we finally found the place of our dreams. The criteria we looked for included uninterrupted sea and mountain views, close to not just one beach but many, with good restaurants and other amenities, and not too touristy. As regards the complex we wanted a high-end property within a complex that had a relaxed and friendly feel to it. In 2007 we found this luxury apartment which has more than fulfilled our wishes. There is plenty of things to keep the children occupied, lots of beaches and some good places for us to relax in as well. All in all I can only describe it as idyllic.
We love the location. It's situated in the South East of the island and enjoys its own unique micro-climate. Basically it never rains. The rains tends to break over the mountains to the north and west of the island. The area itself is beautiful. Porto Colom is a wonderfully underdeveloped port that still retains the characteristics of a working Majorcan fishing village. There are over a dozen good restaurants from the budget end right up to Michelin standard. We are also located less than a five minute walk to the beach and over a dozen other picturesque beaches are located less than a five to 20 minute drive away. This part of the island has a nice laid back feel to it with some wonderful towns/markets to visit. There are also some good walks, and a top golf course is just 4km away.
Our property has been furnished to a luxury standard. The kitchen has everything from a Krupps coffee machine to a George Foreman Grill. We provide not just towels in the apartment but beach towels for you to enjoy, plus two portable sun loungers as well as two more situated round the pool. There are books for you to read and a well stocked DVD library featuring films for both adults and children. If you have children there are beach games for them to play with and inflatables to take to the pool/beach. There are dining tables inside and outside and the terrace features a chaise lounge for you to relax in and enjoy a drink as the sun goes down over the hills - the views are incredible. You even have your own private art gallery! We have over a dozen prints on the wall by local artist Joan Miro.
