Vacation Rental Description
Located in the heart of Deia, this traditional home, built hundreds of years ago, enjoys both privacy and spectacular views of the village and the Tramuntana mountains. It retains many original Mallorquin features but has been renovated to the highest standards to provide modern comfort. There is also a spacious terrace with loungers and dining in mind.
Ca'n Lan is a 5 minute walk to the village with its 14 or so excellent restaurants, a 5 minute drive to the spectacular Cala Deia, and just 30 minutes to Palma, the airport, golf, other beaches etc.
Further details indoors:
Ca'n Lan is an ideal - and cosy - house for visiting any time of year.
In summer, because the house is ancient, the walls are extra thick, keeping it cooler than most. Each bedroom is also provided with a fan.
In winter, Ca'n Lan is one of the first houses in Deia to get the morning sun. There is underfloor heating downstairs (as well as a working fireplace in the living room), and radiators upstairs.
The internal and external wooden shutters can also be opened or closed to regulate temperature.
The master bedroom has 2 twin beds, which can be joined together to make a king, en suite shower, wc and 2 sinks. The tower bedroom has a king bed; the third bedroom has a double. The family bathroom has a bath with shower, single sink and wc. Both bathrooms are very luxurious. There is a downstairs wc with sink also.
The fully fitted kitchen has a large indoor barbeque.
The whole house is full of character - for example, it has its own indoor well (though the water comes from the town supply!).
There are games (and a games table) in the living room ; a TV for the large selection of DVDs; and a variety of CDs.
Further details outdoors:
The spacious terrace has:
4 loungers,
2 parasols,
as well as a dining table and chairs.
There is outside lighting and a barbeque as well.
A machine room houses the boiler and the dryer.

Activities
Forbes magazine in 2008 included Deia in its list of the 10 most idyllic places to live in Europe. We agree and so do others who lived or visited, including the poet Robert Graves, Richard Branson, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Mick Jagger and Mark Knopfler. The Tramuntana Mountains are spectacular whether to look at or to explore. There are 2400 restaurants in Mallorca but some of the best - there are around 20 all told - are in or near Deia. The Cala (beach), a 5 minute drive away, is beautiful and has a fabulous restaurant for lunch. Soller (Saturday market) and Valldemossa (Carthusian monastery where George Sand and Frederic Chopin spent a winter) are 20 minutes away. The hacienda La Granja, 30 mintes away near Esporles, is another must see attraction. But there is so much more on the island - festivals, caves, vineyards, castles - the list goes on and on.
