Vacation Rental Description
The house dates back to 1135, with its own well originally built by the Moors (situated away from the house so not a risk to children).Outside there are a variety of beautiful places to relax - by the 12 x 6 metre pool, under the shade of the gazebo, playing cards under the nearby palm trees, relaxing by the BBQ terrace looking over the valley, chilling out on the kitchen terrace around the stone table, shaded by vines or more energetically playing table tennis in the games room or taking a walk around the grounds will keep you busy for an hour. Inside, everything is newly and simply decorated in traditional style - white walls, terracotta tiled floors and wood beamed ceilings. The house has 3 double bedrooms, 2 twin rooms and a single. We also have 2 childrens beds suitable for children up to the age of about 6/7 and a cot which we can organise to suit your group. All bedding is cool crisp Egyptian cotton, and the bedrooms have fans, but not air conditioning. The house was built originally to take advantage of the sea breeze which comes through the valley every evening and we rarely need the fans so have not added to our carbon footprint by installing air conditioning. There is central heating, a very effective ancient open fireplace and wood burning stoves to keep everything cosy in colder months. All the bedrooms except bedroom 3 have stunning views across the valley to the village and mountains beyond. Laundry provided and changed weekly. More often by arrangement. Pool towels but not personal towels provided. The kitchen is very well equipped and we like to make our guests feel really welcome with a welcome pack of local wine, fruit from the grounds and basics, including a wide selection of herbs and spices. Guests are welcome to help themselves to as many grapes, oranges, lemons, manderines, figs, apricots, walnuts and apples as they can eat. The original farmhouse pantry lined with marble shelves, leads from the kitchen which is a large kitchen and dining room, additional to the dining room featured in the photographs. There is also a spacious traditional laundry room with washing machine, dryer, ironing equipment and shelves of pool towels and linen. In one of the oldest corners of the villa, a large and cool study has broadband, books and sofas to curl up on if you fancy a change from outdoors. The stone table under the vine canopy on the kitchen terrace also has a gas fired Weber BBQ. The pool terrace has a gazebo with sofas and comfortable arm chairs and a fridge for cold drinks by the pool. The BBQ terrace has lighting and a sink beside the BBQ and a constant supply of wood chopped up by our gardeners, and behind it is the old barn, now a games room/wood store with a full size table tennis table, outdoor furniture and a large fridge/freezer to store BBQ food and drinks.
