Vacation Rental Description
Casa Ana is a recently renovated and refurnished country cottage situated just 150m from the sea on the paradise island of Formentera. Having until recently been a private residence, it is furnished and equipped to a very high standard, much better than one would normally expect from a holiday rental property. There is a very well equipped kitchen, open plan lounge diner and two bedrooms, one with double bed and the other with twin beds. Outside there are two terraces, one of which is covered and equipped with table and chairs for eating "al fresco" from the built in barbecue. The coastline is just a short walk away but while you can easily get right down to the waters edge the coastline here is rocky; the nearest sandy beach is about 3/4 of a mile away near to the famous "Blue Bar" on Playa Mitjorn, the longest beach on the island, The villa is in a quiet, tranquil area well away from traffic noise and there is a walled and gated garden giving total privacy and security if you have children with you. It is centrally located on the island putting all of the famous Formentera beaches within about 10 minutes by car. Although the restaurants and supermarkets of Sant Ferran are within walking distance, it is felt that a car is advisable for this property. The beaches on Formentera are fabulous with gleaming white sand and crystal clear waters making the area a popular one for divers visiting the dive centres in La Sabina. Swimming costumes have long been considered optional on Formentera making the island a favourite for naturists. However, naturism here is completely natural and optional with no obligation to wear or not to wear a costume apart from on the main Es Pujols beach or in close vicinity of a bar or restaurant, where costumes should always be worn.

Now that we are back, just to say that all went well (apart from the weather, which could have been better, although there were sufficient fine days). We liked the house, which was even better in real life than the photos suggested!

Facilities
There is air conditioning in the lounge/diner area and to the main bedroom.
Activities
Diving is very popular in the area and there are dive centres for novices or experts in the harbour area of La Sabina. Casa Ana is only about 200 metres from Cala Embaster, a deep cove that forms a natural swimming pool, excellent for snorkelling. It is a very picturesque spot. Set into the cliffs here are a number of man made caves with wooden ramps leading to them to enable the fishermen to pull their boats up out of the water and safe from storms.

I have looked after these properties for three years as an informal agent for two Spanish friends who my wife and I have known for years. Because of their incredible hospitality inviting us over and over again to visit them on Formentera, I looked for a way to "balance the equation" and so do this foc.
As one friend has little English and the other is inexperienced on the internet, I decided to set up web sites and other advertising opportunities for them to help to let their properties. This has proved very successful with 2010 being the best year ever, virtually fully booked for the entire season.
We are both fanatics about Formentera having visited for about 25 years (not every year though) and got to know many of the people there. It is something special going into a bar or restaurant and instantly being welcomed back, or greeted with delight by the check-out girls at the supermarkets and then there are the beaches - the best we have seen just about anywhere!
