Vacation Rental Description
Come and experience the diversity of rural Spain! Explore the dramatic landscape of the snow capped Sierra Nevada mountains; visit the scenic whitewashed villages and sample their locally cured hams, pottery and handwoven rugs. Admire the Moorish architecture in Granada, Cordoba and Jaen. Ski in the morning, discover sunsoaked beaches in the afternoon and sample the local tapas bars and restaurants in the evenings. Alternatively, chill! Lounge by the private pool; take in the panoramic mountain views and the perfumed blossom from our orange and lemon trees and neighbouring groves. End the day with a fine Rioja, the company of cicadas and marvel at the crystal clear sky full of stars. There is always manana! Where are we?
The casita is situated in Tijola, in the 'campo' (countryside), about 3 kms from Orgiva, the market centre of the Western Alpujarras. The local town has an impressive Baroque church and a selection of banks, internet cafes, shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. There is very much an 'alternative' feel here, with many health treatments such as massage, aromatherapy, reiki, spa baths etc available locally.
A colourful market draws many to the town every Thursday.
Accommodation:
The villa offers high quality 3bed/2bath accommodation, combining traditional Alpujarran features with modern comfort and facilities.: open-plan fully equipped kitchen/dining area with spacious granite worksurfaces, (fridge, full size cooker, iron, microwave etc) table seating 6; comfortable living area with double bedsettee, cosy woodburner for the cooler nights, CD/MP3/DVD/video players and satellite TV, books and games. Double doors lead onto a large outdoor shaded terrace, where there is a barbeque and dining area, surrounded by perfumed planting and beautiful 'vistas' that all add to the enjoyment of alfresco living Spanish style! The family bathroom is off the living area and includes a shower. The double bedroom has access to its own intimate private patio area, a peaceful hideaway from others! There are a further 2 single bedrooms, one with a stained glass window. All bedrooms are equipped with electric fans and romantic mosqito drapes. The shower room has shower, WC, Alpujarran washbasin and a stained glass window based on Picasso's 'Bird of Peace'.Outdoor living is amply catered for with a choice of seating around the beautifully landscaped gardens.There is a private filtered pool that has a gentle incline in depth, perfect for confident and less confident swimmers, (many of our younger guests are reported to have learnt to swim in our pool!) and is maintained regularly by the English owners who live nearby (who are able to offer advice and information if required). The pool is surrounded with colourful planting and is gated for child safety. It is enclosed by a large walled and paved area, with plentiful seating, enabling you to lounge in the sun or relax in the shade of the pagoda or bamboo, palm and ancient gnarled olive trees. Table, chairs and parasol are also positioned to enhance your poolside living. Soak up the peace, tranquility and panoramic mountain views in the company of cicadas!

Electricity, bottled gas, linen and towels are included in the rental price but we do request that you supply your own pool towels. We also supply a basic welcome pack. If you have any special dietary requests or are likely to need a little more due to time of arrival (Saturdays shops close at 8.00pm until Monday) then this can be negotiated. This is a child friendly villa, not only is the pool walled and gated, we can offer an assortment of baby equipment (eg travel cot, highchair, baby walker, bath etc) to ensure your holiday is enjoyable for every family member!
Directions to the property and key arrangements will be forwarded after full payment has been received.
Facilities
Babies well catered for, travel cot available along with for additional hire: highchair, babywalker, babygym, all thanks to recently becoming grandparents!
Activities
The Alpujarras are renowned for their outstanding natural beauty; their flora and fauna and national parks. Guided walks, bolted and free climbing, horseriding, paragliding, quad and mountainbiking are all available locally. Skiing and snowboarding (61km of pistes) approx 90 min drive; Costa Tropical approx 35 mins drive offers golf, Marina del Oeste, (a selection of watersports), Alumunecar, a large water park and castle at Salobrena.
For the more tranquil moments, visit the Buddhist monastery of Osel Ling or try the spa waters and assortment of treatments at nearby Lanjaron, or further afield, the hot springs at Alhama de Granada. Visit the beautiful city of Granada and Spain's most visited site, the Alhambra Palace with its neighbouring gardens, the Generalife, snow capped peaks visible in the distance. Hunt out flamenco in the caves or be guided round 'Lorca's Granada'. You need never be bored!

We request a 20% deposit on booking. Your requested dates will then be held for 5 days, enabling us to forward you a copy of our booking conditions and on receipt of your deposit into our bank account,(payment of deposit constitutes acceptance of booking conditions), your dates will be confirmed. If for any reason you need to make a cancellation, the deposit is refundable up to 8 weeks prior to the date of your arrival. It is highly recommended that you consider taking out holiday insurance which covers any eventuality including cancellation. Balance of payment is requested 6 weeks before your arrival date, we forward a reminder and further banking details at this time. I am afraid we do not have credit card facilities. A security deposit to cover damages/breakages of 150.00 Euros is requested on arrival, cheque or cash is acceptable. We hope this will be returned in full on departure!
