Vacation Rental Description
We are located in one of the sunniest areas of Spain, 450 metres above sea level in the breathtaking Alpujarras Mountains, part of the Sierra Nevada range of Southern Spain. We are an hour’s drive due south of Granada City and airport, thirty five minutes north of the town of Motril, the beach resort of Salobrena and the Mediterranean sea, and one hour fourty minutes drive from Malaga airport through stunning scenery. The casita sits in a sheltered, peaceful corner, within a beautiful, organic garden of Mediterranean and semi-tropical flowering shrubs and trees, etc., with olive and orange trees beyond (you are invited to pick your own oranges January to May). Our garden is kept green and colourful by the waters from the springs and melting snows of the high mountains. The place is alive with all manner of insects (non-invasive), bees, butterflies and a mixture of African, Northern and Southern European birds. Wild flowers are most notable in spring and early summer.
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and the morning sunshine on the patio. Even in winter and early spring we are blessed with mostly sunful days with day temperatures 15 - 25C. View the dramatic mountains to the east and the south and the mountains of the north, snow clad in winter and spring.
At night there are crickets, owls and frolicking frogs! The amazingly clear, star laden, night-time sky leaves one utterly mesmerised.
Soak up the peacefulness of this place, sunbathe, read, paint, meditate, walk, climb, enjoy the cooling waters of the swimming pool (in summer) a few paces away, barbecue, eat and drink, go fishing, horse riding; rejuvenate and see life anew.
The very Spanish town of Orgiva attracts people from all over Europe. It‘s just a few minutes drive away, a pleasant 30 minutes walk. Most facilities are to be found there, including cafes, bars, restaurants, banks, shops, pharmacies and small supermarkets. A big weekly market takes place on Thursday mornings. Such is the increasing demand these days, that there are two good health shops.
Within twenty minutes drive in the direction of Granada, one can easily reach the neighbouring town of Lanjaron, which features healing spa bathing. Leaving Orgiva in the same direction, but soon turning off right, a half hour’s drive brings you to the three fascinating and very popular mountain villages of Pampaneira, Bubion and Capileira, reaching over 1,300mtrs in height. Each of these villages is well endowed with shops, bars, cafes and restaurants for your enjoyment.
We are ideally situated for you to enjoy walking and climbing the mountains, biking, horse riding, fishing, shopping, eating, or just resting or lazing about in complete peace. Small, intimate beaches (many with delightful restaurants) and golf courses are only some 35 to 45 minutes away, according to choice. Granada, an hour away, is an amazing city of a thousand unique shops of all styles and sizes, an Arab quarter, cafes and restaurants everywhere. Don’t miss La Alhambra, the vast 700 years old Moorish fortification and Palace, with fantastic architecture and the most beautiful of gardens, where you can easily spend a whole day . . . or two !! Our casita is built in traditional Alpujarran style, designed for self-catering Each room has been uniquely and beautifully furnished and decorated (the pictures tell their own story), so as to provide for you and your family or friends a very special experience in comfort and delight. Every detail of this casita has been put together as if we ourselves wished to stay here in perfect quality and comfort. We have two double bedrooms (one king-size bed and one twin, each with an electric fan, fitted wardrobes and fresh cotton bed linen. Slumber comfortably and peacefully! All windows have insect netting. Spacious shower/bathroom & wc, towels provided. Fully equipped kitchen area newly fitted in January 2010, including fridge/freezer & five-burner range style gas cooker and oven. A welcome pack of freshly made bread, butter, fresh eggs, homemade jam, wine, beer, fresh milk, bottle of water and fruit, is provided on arrival.

Prices are charged by the week - we ask for 25% deposit (non-refundable) to secure a booking, with the balance to be paid not less than eight weeks before the start of the holiday. Prices per week for 3-4 people, for 2 people 10% discount except high season 28th June to 29th August.

Come share with us a retreat from the Hustle & Bustle
After many years of family holidays and weekend breaks in various areas of Spain we always knew that one day we should come and settle here. Andalucía has always been our favourite part of the country so that’s where we started looking. Although we are beach fans we decided we would prefer somewhere not too far from the coast but with less hustle and bustle. On our first visit to Orgiva in the Alpujarras Mountains we instantly knew this was the place for us.
That was in March 2008. We were both working full time in England as a General Manager and an Office Manager, in different companies. It took two visits for us to find the property we wanted and within five months we moved in to our little piece of paradise.
It was hard leaving family and friends but they have a readymade holiday place just a couple of hours away for them to visit whenever they like.
We love the lifestyle change we have made and hope that you will want to come and visit this beautiful part of Spain. We look forward to meeting you.
