Explore Moorish Spain using 'Trabuco Heights' apartment as your base in Andalucia.
The property is in the older "barrio" of Villanueva del Trabuco, and forms the upper floor of a traditional village house with its own access. It offers modern, comfortable 2 bedroomed accommodation. Set on the edge of the pine forest with panoramic views over rooftops to the olive groves and mountains beyond. To the rear it has an enclosed private garden with terraces and bbq. The main plaza with plenty of bars and restaurants is only 3 minutes walk. For vehicles there is space near the property to drop off passengers and luggage. Parking is available in the lower streets or in the free municipal car park.

Nestled in the foothills of the Gordo and San Jorge mountains, Villanueva del Trabuco is a traditional "pueblo blanco" (white village). It is ideal for holiday makers who want to experience the real Spain. There are whitewashed houses with red tiled roofs; winding streets and terracotta plant pots hanging from the walls and iron railings. The many bars and restaurants offer tapas and, in the surrounding areas, three-course "menu del dia" lunches with wine or soft drink are under 10 euros. The numerous local shops, small supermarkets and banks are within walking distance of our apartment as is the medical centre. The new plaza and riverside provide opportunities for evening promenades. Fresh mountain spring water runs from several fountains in the village.

Trabuco is only 45 minutes away from both Malaga and Granada airports. It is 3km from the motorway and is ideally situated for visits to historical Andalucia. Day trips include Granada (70km), Malaga (45km), Seville (180km) and Cordoba (140km). Gibraltar is around 2 hours and Portugal 4. Most of the towns are linked by fast dual carriageway. You can even cross by ferry to Morroco. The old provincial centres of Antequera, Archidona and Loja are less than 30 mins away. All offer good restaurants, tapas bars, historical architecture and shopping for local handicrafts.

You may just want to take it easy and live the Spanish life for a week or two. You can buy everything you need in the local shops and there are plenty of bars and restaurants. There is a daily indoor market selling fresh produce. Get there early for the best fish, shellfish, meat, fruit and vegetables. Fresh bread is available from the local bakeries and is sold in all the food shops. Wine is cheap and of good quality. Local olives are big and juicy. On Wednesday, there is a street market in the village near the river.

There are some stunning walks from the village into the nearby countryside and mountains. Horse-riding, mountain-biking, motorbike trails and organised hikes are all available locally. The municipal swimming pool is open during the school summer holidays. The nearest golf course is only 30 minutes away (Antequera). Lake Iznajar (35 minutes) has a large sandy beach. The beaches, water parks and other attractions of the Costa del Sol are within an hour's drive. During the winter months, skiing and snowboarding are available at the Sierra Nevada resort near Granada.

ACCESSIBILITY
As Villanueva del Trabuco is a mountain village, there are many slopes and steps. The property is on a high level, and as such, it is unsuitable those with walking difficulties. Young children will need extra vigilance.

We live in the village just 5 minutes away from the apartment and can offer assistance in planning your holiday experience. We are English and speak a little Spanish & French.

There is a 10% discount for bookings of 2 weeks or more. *Please note that this discount cannot be combined with any other special offer.

Short breaks of 3 nights minimum may be available in low season for 60€ per night - please email or phone.

A 25% deposit secures your reservation with the balance payable 6 weeks before your holiday.

You will be sent a Paypal payment request for the deposit which you can pay through your Paypal account or with your credit card with no transaction cost.
