Finca del Rio has been tastefully reformed into two homes alongside each other. The Casita only is available for rental throughout the year. The main house being used by the owners from time to time.

The original name of the Finca was La Viña de la Iglesia, the Church Vineyard, which has now been replanted with over a thousand Tempranillo and Syrah vines to recreate wine-growing in this area.

We are ten minutes walk from the village of La Cañada del Real Tesoro, also known as Estacion Cortes de la Frontera, on the edge of the Grazalema National Park, in the mountains of Andalucia. The village has a station on the pretty single track railway line, described as one of the “Great Little Railways of Europe”, which takes you to Ronda, Granada and also to Madrid, via the terminus at Bobadillo, or down to Gibraltar (via San Roque) and terminating at Algeciras.

It is a 45 minute drive to the historic town of Ronda, with its stunning gorge and bullring. The coast at Sabanillas, Estepona and Puerto Duquesa are also a 45 minute drive. Nearby are the pueblos blancos of Gaucin, Cortes de la Frontera, Arriate, Benarraba, Genalguacil to name a few.

The nearest airports are Gibraltar - 1.15hrs and Malaga - 1.45hrs.

Why come to this part of Spain? This area is ideal for country loving people with fishing, walking, tennis, horse riding, birdwatching, cycling, painting and photography to name but a few activities. During springtime the wild flowers are stunning and during the summer you can watch the locals collecting the fruit from the prickly pear cactus. This activity changes to collecting wild asparagus in the winter. The local tapas bars are incredibly reasonable and its a great chance to speak Spanish.

If you wish to chill out in beautiful surroundings then this is the place for you. The proximity to Ronda and local white villages including Cortes de la Frontera, Gaucin, Algatocin, Benarraba, Genalguacil and Benalauria to name a few, is excellent. Driving around the countryside is rewarding as the views are spectacular. There are plenty of viewing points en route where you can stop the car and take full advantage of the excellent scenery.
