Vacation Rental Description
This newish 'Light and Airy' studio sits proudly on the lower level of the owners villa and was opened for business in 2009 . They are reachable within 1 hour from Malaga and situated less than 1 mile up a typical Andalucian track just below the beautiful 'Blanco'village of Comares .It has been designed to take full advantage of the 'Breathtaking' views which take into account both the Mediterranean and also the Rugged Mountain Ranges .'Vine Ridge' Studio is a flexible , comfy and well equipped self contained unit which is 'Excellent Value' in stunning surroundings . The accommodation includes use of a 'Roman ' stepped swimming pool from which the Mediterranean can be seen and also the peaks of Mount Maroma. There is also an outdoor shower.The studio has plenty of terraces and outdoor tables and seating and from wherever you look you will see another view, which is appropriate as we located on the 'Buena Vista' walking route with it's amazing views of Andalucia .
"Vine Ridge" studio sits high on a hill with views to the Mediterranean and across to the mountains,it includes the following zones: A double bedroom area with plenty of storage, which leading off this a bathroom containing a large walk-in mosaic tiled shower, basin and WC. The kitchen area is of 'Spanish style'-curtained and colourful and above all fully functional and includes the following : 4 ring gas hob, fridge, toaster, kettle, microwave, plenty of cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. The living area comprises a comfortable double sofa bed from where you can relax and look out of the 2 metre patio doors which frame the landscape beautifully. Opposite is a satellite TV and DVD entertainment system, positioned on the wall, above a dining table to seat 4 people which again is situated to allow the views to be appreciated whilst eating and drinking. The complete studio lends itself to comfortable living in a relaxed environment with outstanding unbelievable views.
The option is for you to rent the studio which sleeps 4 by way of a double bed and a sofa-bed which sleeps 4 or the apartment which has a double bed and a bunk bed room designed with children in mind, you can of course rent both as they sit side by side , will sleep a total of 8 and are ideal for the extended family or friends.
We have also added a third even better value studio next to the pool which allows us to now sleep up to 10 guests at Vine Ridge across the 3 rentals.
Facilities
It is always nice to know who you are renting from : Myself (David) and my wife Jacqui purchased this property in 2008 with the aim to offer ' Good Value' holidays which we would ourselves appreciate and after many months opened for business in May 2009. The Studio and Apartment are brand new and of high quality. We have 3 children at local schools, 3 dogs , numerous Guinea Pigs and 1 Rabbit . Our aim is to allow couples and families to enjoy the beautiful Andalucian surroundings ,which both 'Vine Ridge' studio and apartment are designed to achieve . The views still give us the 'WOW' factor after 3 years of living here and we are confident that they will do likewise for you . At "Vine Ridge" we endeavour to give our Guests the holiday they desire and we can also offer Taxi Services and Baby Sitting.
Activities
Comares is a picturesque 'blanco' village uniquely nestling 739 metres above sea level, with amazing views from the sea to sierras.The village is reachable within 1 hour from Malaga and 1hour 20 mins from Granada.
Within the hour the amount of attractions available are numerous and diverse ranging from walks to go-carting , pony trekking to water parks ,beaches to historic cities , Spanish bars to English cinema , Air -condition shopping centres to cobbled street villages and golf courses to sandy beaches.
Nerja with it's quaint beaches and famous caves is also only 1 hour away and you can be parked and skiing at Sierra Nevada within 2 hours.
If you simply want to relax then the Andalucian countryside lends itself wonderfully to picnics, birdwatching , star gazing , painting and dramatic photography .
Many people are amazed as to the flexibility of this region of Spain which adheres itself to being a wonderful place to visit.
Travel Options
- Nearest Airport : Malaga at 40 miles distance;
- Nearest Town : Velez Malaga at 20 miles distance
- Travel Info: It is advisable to have a car when visiting rural Andalucia, but we do have the advantage that you can walk to the village, hence we can offer a taxi service and then you can relax and also walk to Comares and save the cost of car hire.

We will happily pencil the booking in for 24 hours whilst you book flights etc. A confirm booking is made via a cheque or bank transfer for 25% of the total price, this is a non refundable fee. The balance is due 6 weeks prior to arrival via the same payment methods. As an extra for 2011 we are also offering for guests to forfeit their welcome pack and let us do your shop for you upfront to your arrival , so everything is in place for a relaxing time. We also offer a 10% booking if you book both rentals and we can also recommend a good car hire firm and get you a realistic discount. We are here to help and grow a long term business.

What a smashing find. Am a bit reluctant to give it all the accolades it deserves as it will be full the next time we want to book! Peaceful setting, with lovely views and very comfortable accomodation. A perfect place to unwind, and everything you need for couple or family holiday, with pool, mountain vistas, beaches half hour away, dogs to pet, and good company if you so desire.

We picked this holiday from a website in 2009 - our first experience of doing so. David and Jacqui gave us information, reassurance and made the process of booking a breeze. We were picked up at the bottom of the track when our (economy) car found the going too tough with luggage, air conditioning (remember to turn it off!) and 4 people. The David made sure we had food and drink available when we got back very late after a car breakdown and generally made sure we were well cared for. The pictures only tell part of the story of what a remarkable location this is. It has to be experienced to be fully appreciated.
So we booked again. Without hesitation. For two weeks instead of one. The studio is a testament to planning and design. For the few hours a day we actually spent in it, there is everything you need. An easy to keep clean kitchen area, lovely shower, squishy sofa, lots of drawer space, games and books, TV/DVD player and internet connection. With pre-teen girls this is crucual.
There is a lovely beach area, off the tourist beaten track, used mostly by Spanish families, easily found by driving down the mountain back in the direction of the sea. We would go early evening to swim, relax and watch the world go by Then build up to leisurely stroll along the prom to chose the beach bar for an evening paella or BBQ fish fresh caught that day. When even that was too demanding, we could go to the local bar in Comares to get fish and chips like you could never find in the UK. Delicious in either case.
It is easy to create a holiday to suit all members of the family - mixing culture, history, walking, sailing, reading by the pool, horse riding, rally driving (well, some of the terrain is quite challenging), bird watching and be as involved as you choose with the wonderful hosts.
Yes - we will go again. Soon. And invite friends.

What a find..... the most enjoyable and relaxing holiday so far. The Cullimore family are the most inviting hosts you will ever meet. Nothing was a too much . It was difficult to leave the pool and the amazing view. But when we eventually did we discovered the beautiful beach at Nerja , it was so refreshing to jump in the sea, our six year old enjoyed snorkling and saw some beautiful fish. Our children (aged 6 and 5) were made very welcome they had enough entertainment to last several months, not the mention the dogs (Charlie, Bruno and Woody) and guinea pigs. The Cullimore girls looked after them so well and we really appreciated the babysitting facility which gave Steve and I an opportunity to hike up the mountain to Comares, there are few words to describe this 20 minute walk, apart from breathtaking. We will be back this time armed with our hiking boots. Lastly thanks to Jacqui for the best door to door driving directions ever. Its difficult to discrible this holiday to our friends, we just want them to see for themselves. Thanks Jacqui, David and Girls. See you again soon

Stayed there over X-mas last year. Even few weather surprises couldn't spoil our holidays. Spacious accomodation, very helpful and always-smiling hosts. Short walking distance to the Comares, marvellously perched on the top of the hill. Views from the rooms magnificent. Flexible prices, attractive bonus offer for recommending this place to your friends after staying.
Airport transfers provided, however for people wanting to discover more Andalucia having a car is strongly advised.
Access track from the main road not for the fainthearted( I enjoyed it a lot!).
Wherever you've chosen to pamper at the poolside or just use this place as a base for walking, hiking or driving around it has everything you may need.
