2 Bedroom Cottage in Comares

Hidden in the Montes de Malaga, La Casita de la Abuela is an Andalucian cottage completely reformed in typical Andalucian style. Peaceful countryside setting and 15 minutes drive from the hilltop village of Comares. Two double above the main house, Finca Lo Martin. Barbecue area and pool. Bedrooms and the bathroom are upstairs, the lounge and kitchen are on the ground floor with front and back terraces.The whole ambience of the place is "focused" on the good life in Andalucia, the pets and tranquillity allow an atmosphere of rustic charm and stunning views to be soaked up from all the different quirky corners of this holiday home and the views are amazing.It can be a "romantic" getaway for couples or an amazing country adventure for families that are fed up with modern society or package holidays and want their children to enjoy their childhood naturally.


• La Casita sits above and adjoining our country home, Finca Lo Martin, where we live with our very sociable dogs and cats, we also have chickens and a pot-bellied pig. The accommodation is self-contained, with its own front & back terraces. We love the fact that we can supply fresh eggs, when the chickens are in the mood! That families will fall in love with the pigs and current piglets.
The dogs and cats will be pampered and normally guests want to adopt them!
We know from our many experiences with guests and families that although we offer a real "rustic & rural "experience most families are completely entertained and that the pets and the pool keep them occupied for hours on end.

BUT also for romantic couples the walks and late night star watching with the odd glass or 2 of the local "Vino" is also an attraction.

These cottages which we believe are 250 years old originally are becoming a rarity and they are rural Andalucia at it's best.

All for less than 1 hour from Malaga.

• The large 9x5 metre pool dominates the tiled terrace area with BBQ and picnic table for outdoor dining. The pool and loungers are for the exclusive use of guests. Poolside loungers and seating overlook miles of unspoilt Andalucian hills.

Many guest simply do not move from the terraces and once they have stocked up with supplies they enjoy the whole experience. The views are ever changing with the shadows playing tricks on the eyes and the hills and wildlife are amazing to see. Many guest do not know that this part of Spain is so reachable.

• Although a car is essential, if you wish to explore this amazing area and get easily to the local bars and restaurants, we can arrange a competitive price airport pick up and drop off service for the walkers and those that desire a complete break from it all. Malaga airport is just less than an hour drive through the mountains above Malaga city, and this includes a 3km dirt track to the property. Many car hire companies operate from the airport and on-line booking is easy. We can offer advise.

• Los Ventorros, a tiny hamlet with bar/restaurant and village store, is the nearest settlement and is approximately 10 minutes away by car. Comares, the highest village in the Axarquia region at 800 metres, is a 6km drive and offers good village facilities including a bank with cash machine, supermarket, butcher and several bars and places to eat. Granada & Alhambra Palace - 90 minutes drive; Nerja, with beautiful beaches and the famous caves - 60 minutes.

Hob/Stove, Iron & Board, Internet Acces, Room Fans, Barbecue, Cosy rustic-style lounge, double sofa bed, arm chair, coffee table, TV with UK & Spanish freeview channels, log burner for winter use, standing electric fan, wifi connection, Bedlinen, kitchen and bathroom towels provided. Please bring own towel for pool/beach use. Property is cleaned thoroughly between lets. Extra linen provided for lets of 2 weeks or more.

Activities available in the local area include: walking with a selection of routes around Comares, horse riding and yoga. There are a number of local celebrations throughout the year: Los Ventorros summer Feria is in July and Comares Feria is held at the end of August. The Feria de Malaga is over 10 days in mid-August.
