Vacation Rental Description
This traditional village Cavehouse, which was formed out of the cliffs in the 1800s offers comfortable and well equipped accomodation for a total of 7 people. We restored it to its present glory 4 years ago and after living in it ourselves for a year decided to rent it out. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 sitting rooms (one of which has a woodburner for those cooler nights) The cave stays a constant temperature winter and summer of approximately 18 degrees. It is cool in summer when the temperature can go as high as 49 degrees or warm in winter when it can drop to minus 11 and we are knee deep in snow. There is a double sofa bed in 1 sitting room. A well equipped kitchen, seperate dining room and a bathroom. It is situated on a single track road with the nearest shop only 2 minutes walk away. The cave has a private gated courtyard and secure parking for 1 car. Garden furniture is provide outside. We have plenty of natural light in the cave so throw away the idea that caves are dark and dingy. We have been established for 3 years now and live in the same village, so are on hand if there are questions you want to ask. But not too close either. The village of Bacor is small and friendly. It is a traditional Spanish village which only had electricity installed 35 years ago. We have 3 very well stocked grocery shops, butchers, bakery, cafe/bar, post office, pharmacy and doctors surgery. Also there is childrens play park. Just 10 minutes drive away is the 13Km Lake Negratin, where you can swim, fish, hire a boat or just sit and sunbath. There are restaurants along the lakeside too or very close by. There is a naturist area too. There is some public transport but we recommend hiring a car as there is much to see and do and you need your own transport for this. The market town of Baza is 20 minutes away, Guadix with its many ancient buildings and museums is 25 minutes, The city of Granada is only 1 hour away. This is also our nearest airport. Granada offers many attractions including the fantastic Alhambra Palace, the Science Museum, Water park and much much more. The Ski resort of Sierra Nevada is close to Granada. The nearest beach is Almeria 90 minutes away( Almeria has an airport too). But many people class Lake Negratin as a beach, it is man made. Murcia airport is 2 hours away, Malaga and Alicante airports both 3 hours away. The roads are nearly all dual carriageways and in very good condition. We are lucky to have many national parks and plenty of flora and fauna to discover. For the birdwatchers amongst you there are vultures, eagles, hoopoes, golden orieles, kestrels, eagle owls to name but a few.

The ski resort of Sierra Nevada, which is just over 1 hour away offers ski-ing, snowboarding, sleighriding and many more activities. There is a local paragliding club at Jabalcon Mountain. Quads bike and mountain bike hire is available close by. At Lake Negratin you can hire canoes, pedaloes and kayaks. There are also some jetskis, but not sure if they are for hire yet. Sierra De Baza 20 minutes away offers many varied hiking routes, from low effort to serious hiking. The market town of Baza has many shops and supermarkets as does Guadix. There very many good restaurants within 10 minutes drive. Or you could eat in the village cafe/bar. Excellent food served by a very friendly family. There are theatres and cinemas in all the main towns. Baza has a 2 week long fiesta and fair in September which is good fun. Bacor has a very good 3 day fiesta in June, where everyone joins in. It is just one long party for 3 days.
