Casa Erizo is fully furnished holiday accommodation or B&B with a private pool, and is a perfect base for people who just want to "chill", romantics, walkers, birdwatchers or artists, due to its quiet mountainous location.

It is an old lovingly restored cortijo with 360-degree stunning views of the spectacular Sierra de las Estancias mountains and the best elevated view of the Rambla de Oria valley, nestled under Piedra de Aguila (Eagle Rock with real eagles!) and excellent for relaxing away from the crowds in real Spain.

The whitewashed casa is a rural retreat and has a sitting room, dining kitchen and en suite bedroom leading directly on to the sunbathing terrace, pool and pergola, and is set amongst olive and almond groves.

The casa has a log fire for cool evenings in winter. There is even an internet connection for your laptop.
For people who don't want to hire a car we also do airport pick ups/drop offs, shopping trips, days out.
For people who don't want to cook we do B&B, packed lunches and 'dish of the day' evening meals.

Perfect location for: relaxation, cycling, walking, birdwatchers, artists and sightseeing in real Spain, Almeria having 320 days of sunshine a year.
Although there are lots of places to go, most people love to just relax, sunbathe and read by the pool, drinking in the peace and quiet, enjoying the tremendous views, cracking open home grown almonds and watching for eagles.

Casa Erizo is in the hamlet of Barranco de Quiles which is 5 minutes from the nearest village Oria for shops, banks, bars and restaurants, and a Sunday market in front of the church. The village dates from the time of the Moors and has the remains of a castle. It is a farming area famous for hams and cold meats, almonds and olives. Albox is the nearest town, 30 minutes away, which has a thriving market on Tuesday mornings selling foods, clothes and local crafts. Tapas (1E a plate) and Menu del Dia (usually 10E for 4 courses) is available locally.

Flights can be arranged through flymonarch, ryanair, easyjet, avro, jet2, bmibaby or thomsonfly.com from most British airports to Almeria, Murcia (San Javier), Granada or Alicante airports which are about 1.5 -2 hours drive away.

The host/hostess are available nextdoor to give guests local information and large scale maps can be borrowed for walkers and cyclists.

The sitting room includes freeview English TV, and a small selection of CDs, DVDs, books and games, area guide books and an information pack. Bedroom has new pine furniture for storage and a fan. As this is a traditional Spanish building we do not require air-con. The dining kitchen is fully equipped, even a log fire There are fly sceens on the doors and mosquito nets on the windows Travel plug adaptors are provided The sun terrace has sunloungers and a parasol, and under the shady pergola there is a garden table and chairs for alfresco dining. There is an area next to the pool where you can play boules which are provided! There are fairy lights hanging from the pergola for romantic evenings stargazing, we don't have street lights and on clear nights you can see the Milky Way. The pool is 8m x 3m and its depth is 1m at the shallow end and 2m at the deep end. It is shared with the owners and is solar heated in summer.

We assume that 3 persons means 2 adults and 1 child in the same bedroom. If the 3rd or a 4th person prefers the sofabed in the sitting room £50 a week/£8 a night each extra Cot for a baby - free. Dogs welcome with prior arrangement £75 non-returnable deposit per week payable at time of booking to make your reservation. The balance is payable in full 8 weeks before your holiday starts, plus a refundable £150 bond, which will be returned within 2 weeks of your holiday less any charge for excessive cleaning, loss, breakage or damage. We accept payment by cheque or bank transfer in GBP or Euros. Credit card payments to Paypal add 4% Further booking details and cancellation charges on enquiry.
