Vacation Rental Description
Casa Pozo stands just off a delightful country tarmac lane winding its way to a magnificent undeveloped bay of swaths of golden sand and rock pools. You can stroll down the lane in a few minutes. You will pass other lovely houses and cottages, their native shrubs and flowers tumbling over the walls and pine trees and olive trees are all around. The village of Zahora is not a purpose built development. It has matured and grown gradually over many years. It is unique in southern coastal Spain and you must see it for yourself to understand what we mean by this. We absolutely dread the possibility that it will be taken from what it is into a larger scale and spoiled. Infact, so desperate are we to preserve it that this thought of it being spoiled almost overrides the pleasure of being there. We suggest you go soon if you want to enjoy a Spanish seaside holiday in a small friendly coastal village.
Now Zahora may be small but it is full of surprises and you can pretty much walk to everything you need from the house. Our little local shop is about 100 metres away and further on up the lane are 2 other good stores. One of these is at the village campsite where you can also use their excellent swimming pool plus hire bicycles, go online, make calls, and visit the bar and restaurant. Dotted around the village are a dozen bar restaurants all within reasonable walking distance. They are not in a shopping parade as such a thing does not exist thankfully. You will gradually discover them during your visit. One of the best is beside the beach built of stone and thatch more like Africa than Spain. There is also a wooden beach bar. These are the only buildings visible from the beach. At one end of the bay is a light house standing high upon rugged rocks. It is known as Cabo Trafalgar. It was off this point that the Spanish and British fleets met in battle in 1805. At the other side of the bay is an old ruined shepherds cottage overgrown with fig trees. Zahora is surrounded by forest and farmland and there are excellent places for horse riding, bicycling and walking. This coast is also a mecca for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
Casa Pozo is a simple but comfortable house with everything you need for relaxing and enjoying a family seaside holiday. We do not have a TV and you will find this helps you to refocus your mind away from the worries of the world. On the ground floor are 2 double bedrooms, a shower room with loo and basin, an inner sitting area, a dining room which also has a large sofa and a kitchen with small walk in pantry. At the front of the house is the porch where between April and October most visitors spend their time relaxing in the shade on the armchairs and sofa. The first floor has a lovely double bedroom with patio doors opening onto a large roof terrace with terracotta pots and plants. There is another shower room almost en-suite again with shower, loo and basin. Beside this is a small kitchenette area where you can make tea or coffee and have toast and cereal. This is also the laundry area where a door opens onto a second roof terrace to hang clothes. All bedrooms have cooling fans. The driveway is big enough for one large family car or two smallest cars. The garden is totally private. It is paved in terracotta and has a real shower, a BBQ, table and chairs plus other benches and chairs. Once you arrive and shut the high gates you are totally secure and young children cannot get out. The garden is enclosed by a wall inside of which are lovely flowering shrubs. You can find shade all day or sun all day as you wish either in the garden or the first floor terraces. There is also a small garden room entered at the side door where the beach chairs and games, etc, are stored. We hope you will decide to visit Casa Pozo in Zahora and look forward to hearing from you.

Walking, riding and biking are all excellent as Zahora is in incredibly beautiful countryside.
You can swim in the excellent pool at the village campsite (restricted numbers in pool area).
There are 12 bar/restaurants within walking distance!
In summer the village shops are open from 10am - 10pm. Local store 100 metres away is open all year. Other shops and bar/restaurants close out of season if it is quiet.
We recommend a car to fully appreciate the area.

Travel Options
- Nearest Airport : Jerez at 50 kilometers distance;
- Nearest Train Station : San Fernando at 30 kilometers distance
- Nearest Town : Vejer de la Frontera at 10 kilometers distance
- Travel Info: Jerez is the closest airport, however many clients fly to Gibraltar about 1 hour by car or even Malaga about 2 1/2 hours by car. All connecting roads are very good and well sign posted. Another airport worth considering is Seville from where there is motorway nearly the whole way and it is quicker than from Malaga by more than 1/2 an hour. Obviously taxis are available to link up with trains and buses (though this may not be necessary) if you do not want to hire a car . In Zahora from April - September shops and bar/restaurants are open so a car is not essential. A car is definitely recommended Oct - March as businesses close if it is quiet.
