Vacation Rental Description
Meaning 'House of Dreams' and standing in a private ecological 8 acre estate tucked away in a protected National Park behind Dehesa Montenmedio with golf, equestrian facilities and the NMAC art centre, the Cortijo del Sueño is found in one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas of the Costa de la Luz. For those seeking a traditional Spain with fiestas, fresh food, protected wildlife and undeveloped beaches – look no further. With "stylish self-catering" (The Telegraph), the Cortijo is perfect for smaller groups of 2-8 who wish to enjoy its comfortable space, peace and tranquillity. The finca is also included in Alistair Sawday´s Ethical Collection: 'Spain' & ´Green Europe´ for self-catering properties, as well as listed with 'Responsible Travel'.
The four en-suite bedrooms with hand-made hardwood furniture can sleep up to eight guests - with two king-sized four-poster beds and two twins/king beds, each with a large front balcony area & stunning sunset views West across the valley up to Vejer.
The kitchen is fully-fitted kitchen and equipped with everything to entertain, while a separate dining room has two pairs of French doors leading out to the large stone terrace with barbeque and further table and chairs for al-fresco dining. There are two sitting rooms, plus a reading are on the first floor - the main one has several comfortable sofas, an open fireplace and French doors also leading out onto the terrace, while the ´Snug´ has a large sofa and armchairs, TV, UK satellite, DVD player and fireplace.
The Cortijo del Sueño is a wonderful place to relax year-round, with plenty of room for groups of all sizes. With thick stone walls and cooling sea breezes, the cortijo remains cool in summer (fans are also provided for every room), while full underfloor heating and two open fires keep it snug and warm in winter with plenty of hot water (provided by solar & full electrical back-up).
As well as being enjoyed by guests of all ages, the Cortijo is also very popular with smaller groups (such as golfing or birdwatching parties) with individuals or couples who each want the privacy of their own en-suite bedroom, but enjoy the flexible space and facilities of a whole house rather than staying in a hotel. The Cortijo is cleaned weekly, with cotton bedlinen and bathroom towels included, while items for chilldren under five years of age such as travel cots, bed guards, high chairs and stair gates are offered with our compliments. Further housekeeping, catering & shopping service is also available. Guide and hearing dogs are always welcome.
Facilities
The Cortijo and pool are suitable for those able to climb stairs, as the en-suite bedrooms are all on the first floor. The 10m x 5m infinity pool is spring fed and non-chlorine and safe for children with wide shallow steps at one end into 0.5m depth of water. It is surrounded by stone wall on three sides (fence below on fourth side) with a large natural stone patio and shaded pergola, pool house with honesty bar, changing room and bathroom. The ´infinity´ edge goes onto a grass slope. There are also three completely separate private Casitas 150m away on the same estate which are are disabled/wheelchair accessible, with another swimming pool. The Cortijo sits at the heart of the estate with its own entrance gate and driveway, as well as garden & orchard, so remains totally private from any other guests at all times - although it is can be booked together with a second proeprty for larger groups.
Activities
Some of the best beaches on the Costa de la Luz are just 10 minutes away by car - the long golden beaches of El Pamar & Canos de Meca up to Conil are particularly good for families in the summer and surfers in the winter.
Guests can enjoy a wide range of activities such as golf and horseriding provided by Montenmedio Country Club just 400m walk away (which also hosts the annual horseriding Sunshine Tour) as well as others in the area. There is a wealth of choice for nature lovers too - from whale and dolphin watching to safaris exploring the wonderful National Parks such Donana and Los Alconocarles, or simply biking, birdwatching and enjoying the local flora and fauna walks.
Your days can be as active or as laid-back as you wish - sherry-tasting, a day-trip to Seville, Cadiz or even Morocco are firm favourites for those preferring the intellectual rather than the physical approach!

The balance of 65% is due 2 to 3 months before arrival (depending on season), along with a refundable security deposit.
