A home from home in Jerez

We stayed in this apartment for a month in January-February 2011. We wanted to get away from the English winter, but go somewhere that was not a holiday resort and where we could see a little of the "real life" of the area. Jerez de la Frontera was exactly the right location for us - plenty to see and do in the town and surrounding area, but not full of tourist shops at tourist prices.
The apartment is in the old part of the town, less than 5 minutes from the main square, so it is possible to walk to most of the attractions. The underground car park would be tight for a large car, but Mary, the owner, had given us plenty of warning about this. We were glad of the car to be able to drive out to golf and places like Ronda and the Grazalema, but were able to get the train to Sevilla and Cadiz.
The flat is well equipped and comfortable for a stay of this length, with plenty of seating and a good kitchen, and Mary was very quick to make sure we had everything we needed. The internet connection was a particular boon.
Mary was also very helpful in letting us know about any special events happening in the town, which we would otherwise have missed.
All in all, we had a marvellous stay in a very comfortable flat and would not hesitate to recommend it.

We spent a week in Jerez in April 2010 at this apartment. My wife and i were staying with another couple (we are all English teachers from France) and we have nothing but praise for the way Mary helped us out with everything, catering to all our needs, maps, travel info, a spick and span flat, with a large dining-cum-living room area, with comfy sofa and armchairs, nicely furnished too. Two medium-sized bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with two single beds. A modern bathroom with bath and shower. Everything was perfect, and we did some cooking in the small but very nice kitchen. Oven, fridge and freezer, micro-wave etc. The house is in a most quiet little street, just behind San Miguel church (a beauty) and 'la cerise sur le gâteau', as we say in French was the garage just under the house where we only just managed to park the huge Passat we had rented at Seville Airport. Jerez is well worth a visit if you are to see most of the lovely old town, the horse show, the Alcazar etc. And right in the middle of a historic part of Andalousia. We highly recommend this flat and its owner and will tell all our friends.

Lo que más me gustó: The quiet building
Increasing occupation every year.
I am a teacher of English as a Foreign Language, teaching mainly teachers and older teenagers, as well as university students.
I came to Jerez for a year - thirty years ago! I live in the city centre, a few minutes' walk from my rental apartment, so I'm available for any help or information that guests may need.
I enjoy my second occupation as a landlady, as I've met such a lot of interesting people. My guests have included opera singers, actors, Finnish triathletes, teachers and students of flamenco and, for some reason, teachers in general. I have many Spanish guests as well as those who come from abroad. I consider that I've made several good friends and am in touch on a regular basis with a good number of guests, many of whom return or visit regularly, some several times a year.
I love Jerez, and my aim is to make my guests feel the same.
