This luxury, 2 bedded duplex apartment, furnished to a high standard and located in the village of Vélez de Benaudalla in the foothills of the Alpuharras Mountains, offers the best of both worlds. Only a 15 minute drive to the beaches of Motríl or Salobreña and Motríl golf course, and yet only a 60 minute drive to the Sierra Nevadas Ski Resort. The apartment is spacious, light and airy; has 2 large double bedrooms; 2 bathrooms (Master bedroom en-suite); a well specified kitchen; a large living/dining area (with double sofa bed); and boasts 2 separate roof terraces, affording the occupants both shade and sun in the morning and the evening. 
The securely gated complex is superbly maintained by a full-time cleaner and enjoys a private communal pool and secure underground parking with a lift direct to the apartment floor. With full air-conditioning/heating, a fully fitted kitchen, Satellite TV and DVD player, along with magnificent views of the snow-capped Sierra Nevadas, this property will not disappoint. 
The Costa Tropical is undoubtedly the hidden gem of all the Spanish Costas. Still very traditionally Spanish and unspoilt from the over-development that plagues more "popular" destinations, the area is steeped in history. The three Moorish towns of Salobreña, Almuñecar and Motr1íl are to be found just along the coast from Velez with their all year round local markets offering fresh fish, meat, vegetables and tropical fruits. The climate in this area is near perfect with long, sunny summers and warm winters and only occasional rain. The melting snows from the Sierra Nevadas ensure a lush green tropical terrain all year round, unlike more arrid areas of Spain.  
The historical village of Velez de Benaudalla sits under the gaze of the old 15th Century Moorish castle on the hillside and retains, along with much of this region, a traditional and authentic Spanish flavour. It boasts the Nazari Garden, built by the Moors along the same lines as the world famous Alhambra in Granada, with an emphasis on water features, grottos, beautiful flowers and clipped hedges. This is still very much a Spanish speaking area, and part of enjoyment is to communicate with the locals on their terms and not to rely on everyone speaking your own native tongue. You will be rewarded by a friendly and warm response, even if they cannot understand all that you say! There are two local supermarkets, both within 100 metres of the apartment; several bars and restaurants (all still serving genuine tapas); banks; a chemist; shops; a surgery and a variety of other services. 
Being only a 15 minute drive from the large towm of Motríl and 30 minutes from the city of Granada, there is easy access to all the amenities, shopping and facilities you will ever need, and yet your stay in Velez will feel like a trip to a different time and place.

The activities available within a short distance from Velez are astounding. Naturally there are beaches within a 10-15 minute drive at Motril and Salobreña incorporating Water Sport rentals, bars and restaurants, with a Water Park 25 minutes away at Almuñecar. There is a Sports Centre within 15 minutes drive at Salobreña with football, basketball and tennis courts (to name a few) available for hire. The Sierra Nevadas Ski resort is only 1 hour away with one of the longest seasons in Europe (late November to late April), and of course there is the availabilty of Hiking, Mountain Climbing and Walking in the summer months. Shortly, the recently constructed Rules Dam, situated a 5 minute drive to the North of the village will provide Sailing, Windsurfing and other Water Sport rentals.

  • Travel Info: Velez de Benaudalla is well served by Airports: Granada Airport is 50 Miles (80 Km) away and only takes 45 Mins as it is motorway all the way; Malaga Airport is 65 Miles(105 Km)away and is reached comfortably in 1Hr 15 Mins; and Almeria Airport is only slightly further being 80 Miles (130 Km)away and reachable in 1 Hr 30 Mins. The times for travelling to Malaga and Almeria will be reduced even further with the imminent opening of new sections of motorway.

25% deposit to secure booking; balance 4 wks prior to arrival, or payment in full before that time, by bank transfer, cash or cheque (subject to clearance). £150 returnable security deposit (returned after departure and subject to breakages). Cancellations made within 2 weeks of arrival date are non-refundable. Should a booking be cancelled before this time, 80% of all deposits made(including security depodit) will be refunded, only if we are able to re-book the period in question. The rental period is based on the number of nights spent in the accommodation. Access to the property will be from 15.00hrs on the day of arrival and until 11.00hrs on the morning of departure, unless otherwise agreed. Full Terms and Conditions available upon request.
