2 Bedroom Cortijo in Almunecar

Cortijo El-Prado has been lovingly restored and extended by its British owner who lives here all year round. 
 
The property is split into 2 self-contained houses of which 'Casa los Paqaros' is available for holiday rentals and contains : 
1st Floor- 
1 x double bedroom with ensuite shower and huge pvt sun terrace with sun loungers. (telescope if required for star gazeing) 
 
Ground Floor- 
1 x small double with vanity sink. 
 
Cot available as is a bed settee for the sitting room - if required. 
 
Living room complete with log burner, TV, DVD player and plenty of books and DVD's.  
Dining Room with seating for 6 persons 
Kitchen with dishwasher. 
Shower room with washing machine. 
Outside:  
The downstairs terrace has a working bread oven, a dining table for 10 and various chairs for relaxing in. 
There is a gas BBQ. 
Everywhere there are seating area's placed to enjoy the view's and to soak up the sun.  
 
The property has is situated amongst olive groves and almond trees, and offers wonderful walks, panoramic views and spectacular star-gazing. It is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the unspoilt spanish countryside. Wild flora and fauna enthusiasts will love it here.  
 
 
Please note that Cortijo El Prado is a working farm and there is usually some activity during the day.  
Also please note that it is home to various unwanted and abandoned animals including a mule and donkey who love attention. Also very friendly, two young dogs and various cats who are very shy but if you are lucky- they will meet and befriend our guests. 
 
No animal has been allowed into 'Casa Los Pacaros'

When in season pick fresh orange to squeeze for your breakfast juice, and pick lemon's for a G&T. Avocados, grapes, figs, Kaki, cherries and many more types of fruit available when in season. We try to grow our own veg and salads,all organic. Hot water is provided by solar as well as the underfloor heating which is throughout downstairs and a wood burning stove keep you warm in the cooler months.(please note wood for the stove is provided by us at a charge of 10 euros a basketful- approx 2 nights) For the summer months each room has either a ceiling fan or free standing fan. The only known country property in the area set up for comfortable winter lets. Babysitting services available. The property is self-catering but we can provide quality home-cooked evening meals including wine if required. Cortijo El Prado has WiFi.

During the olive harvest season (Nov-Dec) you may enjoy collecting olives from the trees belonging to Cortijo El Prado and visit the local mill to watch the pressing process take place. 
 
There are various activities in and nearby Almunecar (15 minute car ride from Cortijo El Prado).  
Visit the newly opened aquarium, explore the old pueblo with its small steets and shops. 
Or the bird park, situated below the old castle, the Roman ruins or enjoy the beaches and Waterpark. 
 
Pena Escrita is a nature reserve situated in the mountains, home to local wildlife and  
animals rescued from circus's and small zoo's, it has restaurants and swimming pool. 
There are some wonderful restaurants and tapas bars, in town and along the beach. 
The municiple market for local produce and the Friday market,for gifts - look for bargains at the Sunday flea market.

• Travel Info: Getting here by car: The drive up to Cortijo El Prado has some off road tracks and is not for the faint hearted! 4x4 recommended but not necessary. Definitely not suitable for low slung vehicles. We will meet you at an agreed location in Almunecar usually McDonalds and guide you up to the Cortijo. 15 minutes from town, 5 miles from town centre to the cortijo.
