Vacation Rental Description
Excellent apartment ideally situated for the beaches of 'Bajondillo', 'Playamar', 'Los Alamos' and 'La Carihuela' and the many 'chiringuitos' where you can stop for a glass of wine and grilled sardines which are cooked on bamboo sticks over an open fire (Espetos Sardinas). Torremolinos is a 20 minute gentle stroll along the paseo. Packed with tantalising shops, thronging with people of every nationality and located right at the heart of the town is the pedestrian only Calle San Miguel, the main artery of the town. This smartly paved pedestrianised street is lined with boutiques and shops with a great variety of goods on offer, attracting a constant flow of people. The Cuesta del Tajo, at the end of San Miguel, leads down a steep flight of steps through the old fishing district of El Bajondillo. This is a popular, picturesque area lined with restaurants and market-style kiosks, selling souvenirs. Down at the bottom is the beach of El Bajondillo. Only 10 minutes from the airport, Malaga is about 12 kilometers away. Coast/Beach
8/10 minutes walk and you reach the beautiful sandy beach that stretches along a 4km promenade. A walk we often do is from the apartment down to the beach at Costa Lago, turn right and walk towards Torremolinos and just keep walking along the promenade, you will reach the famous fishing village of 'La Carihuela', keep walking a you will come to the award winning port of Benalmadena. It will take 1½ - 2 hours depending on how often you stop.

In Torremolinos on the first Thursday of June, they celebrate 'Dia del Pescaito' where everyone can enjoy in food and drink, free of charge. On 16th of July, 'Virgen del Carmen', is celebrated which is a week full of parties on 'La Carihuela' Beach. The Feria de Malaga is held in August. During the day the city centre is transformed, with horses carrying people dressed in typical costume. Thousands of locals and visitors dress up and line the streets. Decorated food stalls offer local delicacies (which should be accompanied by a vino fino (sherry) or a sweet Malaga wine) and there's plenty of music and dancing. In the evening the real de la feria (the feria proper) shifts south-west of the centre to Cortijo de Torres, with more than 200 pavilions open to the public. There are nights dedicated to flamenco dance and music, peña music groups, pop and flamenco bands and competitions. The port is lit up by a firework display, turning the city into an explosion of light and colour.

Winter Skiing is available in the Sierra Nevada, a must from December to April and is only 90 minutes drive by car.

- Travel Info: About half a kilometre away is La Colina train station, the train runs every 20 minutes from Malaga to Feungirola. At the new Maria Zambrano train station you can travel on middle and long distance trains and the high-speed Train AVE, with destinations to Córdoba, Madrid and Barcelona.The Train Station is situated next to the Bus station, 2 km from the Malaga harbor and 9 km from Malaga Airport with which it is connected by the suburban train (Cercanías) C-1. The buses also run frequently from La Colina and the stops are very close by. There is a taxi rank situated just outside of the apartment block.

Hi, we live in Southampton, England; we had our own catering business for over 20 years which we sold in 2003. David is still involved in all aspects of catering but Cathy has now just retired and taking a well earned rest. We purchased our apartment a number of years ago purely by chance. Some friends were at la Colina viewing apartments with a view to buy and they were impressed with 2 properties, our current apartment and one in the opposite block, they phone us that evening and said that they had found us a property in Spain, so we booked a flight for the next day and went to look. I had never been to mainland Spain before so this was a bit of adventure. Anyway this all happened in November and the following January we were the proud owners of Apartment 711, la Torre, La Colina.
