Owner Location Comment
Nerja is by far the nicest town on the eastern Cost del Sol. Nerja has grown rapidly, yet has escaped the excesses of ugly high rise buildings that disfigfure much of the Costa. The weather is very sunny and temperate as Nerja lies on a plain almost surrounded by the Almijara and Alpujarra Sierras. It is perfectly possible to ski on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada in the morning, and sunbathe on the Nerja beaches in the afternoon. In old Nerja, narrow streets lie between white walled houses, their balconies full of Geraniums.. Restaurants and tapas bars are everywhere, and all tastes are catered for, from Andalucian to Indian, Mexican and even Greek.
The white villages of Frigiliana, Torrox Pueblo, Canillas de Albaida and Competa are all nearby and all worth a visit. All have their fiestas and Saints' days when colourful flamenco dresses are worn. Semana Santa (Easter) is celebrated in all the towns and villages with solemn Processions.Malaga's Semana Santa celebrations are world famous.
