Vacation Rental Description

Las Tortugas is a spacious country house of character, recently completely renovated to provide two spacious self-contained apartments, one per floor. It sits in a walled garden of 2500sq metres, with a 12 metre Pebbletec swimming pool and many metres of covered and uncovered terrace.
The ground floor apartment has two large bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms, each with large walk-in showers, spacious sitting room, separate dining room, guest cloakroom, exceptionally well equipped kitchen and a large covered terrace with a dining table and chairs as well as sofas and easy chairs. This is the most used area - ideal for escaping the heat of the day and sheltered in winter.
One of the bedrooms has 90cm twin beds which can be made up as a large doubles or as singles. Our bed linen is all 100% cotton and the towels large and fluffy. Pool/Beach towels and hairdryers are provided to save on luggage weight.
The pool and surrounding terrace is shared with the occupants of the upstairs apartment which may also be available if you happen to have friends or family wishing to travel at the same time - contact us for more details. If you only need one apartment but would like to have your privacy we can guarantee not to let the upper apartment (if not already let) for a supplement of 50% of the rental.
Las Tortugas is a quiet, chill-out destination so unless the whole property is let to members of the same group, children under 18 are not allowed, in the interest of peace for the other guests.
It is close enough to the beaches to pop down for a day or a meal (10 minutes). That is if you can tear yourself away from the seductive peace: the most noise you will hear is the bells round the necks of the sheep and goats as the shepherd brings them round to graze within reach of the gates: a wonderful, almost biblical sight. There are great all-round views, particularly towards the Sierra Cabrera and Mojácar Pueblo to the south and the sea to the east at Garrucha. There is satellite tv, DVD player and lots of easy-reading material.
The house is set in a 2500m2 walled and gated garden, with covered parking for 2 cars and further parking for several more.
Las Tortugas is completely private, only two other houses being visible in the locality, a good 200metres away.
A comprehensive welcome pack is included in the price and are also happy to do a shop for you prior to your arrival if you want to prepare a meal without shopping.
Well behaved dogs and cats are welcome with prior written consent provided that they do NOT go on furniture or in the pool. They will revel in the freedom to run in complete safety in the countryside round the house, in pursuit of rabbits and even the odd fox.
The popular, if rather challenging, Valle del Este Golf Course is just two minutes' drive away, with two restaurants (one a very good Indian, one an excellent Spanish Tapas bar/restaurant) and another bar. The comercial centre has a small supermarket for basic needs.
The nearest beach is 7kms at Garrucha, with the beaches of Mojácar and Vera Playa a little further in each direction. Main shopping is available at Vera Town (5kms), Garrucha and Mojacar (14 kms). The beautiful unspoiled neaches of the Cabo de Gata Natural Park are half an hour or so away. The marine habitat around the coast is a protected area - the most important in the Med, and a great place for divers.
For the more energetic there are Go-Karts and Garrucha and an Aqua Park at Vera Playa.

JULY and AUGUST Las Tortugas is let only as a full house, sleeping up to 8 plus 2 children up to 12 - price is double that shown on the pricing chart. Contact us for more details about the whole house.

Almeria is the eastern-most province of Andalucia and is the driest place in mainland Europe, making it not only a great holiday destination but also a wonderful place to spend the winter - indeed it is justifiably claimed that Mojácar, the main resort of the area, is the place the sun spends the winter.
Unlike the other costas, Almeria has remained largely unspoiled and it is possible to drive out of any of the small seaside towns into the countryside and beautiful mountain scenery, in just five minutes. There is little traffic outside of August and the whole place is dedicated to chilling out in a rather low-key manner - if you are looking for lots of lively nightlife this is not for you. If on the other hand you are a golfer there are five courses to choose from all within an a short drive of any of the resorts. The mountainous hinterland is great walking country and a paradise for nature lovers and bird watchers.
For the more energetic there is an Aqua Park, a Go Kart track, an Extreme Adventures venue, scuba diving, horse riding and bowls.
Just a short drive down the coast brings you to the Natural Park of the Cabo de Gata with its wonderful unspoiled beaches.

Travel Info: Las Tortugas is within a five minute drive of junction 529 on the E 15 Motorway. This motorway is the one which passes directly alongside the airports at Almeria and Alicante. Although Almeria is the closest airport(Alicante being two hours away), there is much more choice of flights to Alicante from UK and they tend to be cheaper.
