Vera is a delightful town, which is home to a beautiful old town square, gardens and a bullring. It is a vibrant town with plenty of shops, boutiques, fantastic restaurants and a street market on Saturdays. Very Spanish! The seaside resort of Vera Playa covers the beach area between Puerto Rey and Villaricos. The resort has earned the prestigious blue flag for its 8 km of white sandy beaches: Las Marinas, Puerto Laguna, Pueblo Laguna, Puerto Rey and El Playazo, the later reserved for nudists. Vera Playa is now becoming an increasingly popular all year round resort both to live and to take a holiday. Vera Playa also offers the only Water Park in the area, Parque Acuatico. Here you can take a thrilling ride on many of the flumes or sit and relax by one of three swimming pools. There are excellent shoots and slides and a children’s section with a play area with their own water slides, open from May until the end of September. Garrucha is a beautiful and lively fishing town that still retains much of its original charm. It is famous for its “Garrucha prawns” only fished in the local waters. Garrucha has a magnificent beach and promenade with an excellent selection of restaurants and bars with many superb seafood restaurants found along the seafront serving fresh catch of the day. Garrucha has a weekly market on Fridays. Aguilas with its rich micro climate has an average temperature annual temperature of 23 degrees centigrade. A wide variety of outdoor activities are available from rock-climbing or trekking through beautiful countryside to scuba diving in the warm waters of the Mediterranean. The town is noted for its underwater landscapes, attracting divers from across the world. Mojacar Pueblo, the ancient Moorish village is located on the top of a mountain looking out to sea from 172 metre high vantage point. In its narrow white streets pretty cube-like whitewashed houses are perfumed by the abundant flowers which decorate the house-fronts.
