Almond Reef is a delightfully restored farmhouse providing Bed and Breakfast in a quiet rural hamlet in the region of Almeria Spain.

Nestled beneath the craggy cliffs of an ancient fossil reef, are the villages and hamlets of Cariatiz. Our restored Cortijo is situated in the tiny, sleepy hamlet that is Los Josefos. Here our neighbours still bake bread in the traditional domed bread oven and farm almonds like generations before them.

Los Josefos is a short walk from the white painted village square of Los Alias. There you will find a small geological museum, Church and a tiny village school.
The square also serves as the school playground, meeting place and venue of the village's three day fiesta at the end of August.

Set amongst tranquil almond, olive, orange and lemon trees one of the first things you will notice is the clearness of the air. Almost the only sounds that can be heard are those of the bird song and goats bells.
At Almond Reef, we can offer you all the facilities you require for a relaxing and sociable stay, in a lovely location and in a beautiful and unspoilt area of rural Spain.

All our rooms are elegant but retain the Spanish farmhouse feel and all can be either double or twin. There are seven bedrooms which are mostly en-suite.

All guests have the use of a kitchenette which has tea and coffee making facilities along with a toaster, fridge and microwave oven. Also available is the use of a BBQ large sun terrace and Swim/Spa Pool, with great views. For winter evenings a welcoming log fire in our comfortable lounge is also available for all our guests.

Motorcycling : We have the well known Circuito de Almeria a short 15 minute ride away.

Walking : Enjoy glorious scenery in beautiful warm sunshine throughout the winter months as you discover the peace and tranquillity

Cycling : The area surrounding Almond Reef is fabulous cycling country for the enthusiast ! There are miles of quiet roads crossing open countryside with gorgeous views

Caving :-The Enormous Sorbas cave system is nearby. There are guided tours of the caves from easy going for beginners to more advanced

Riding: There are a number of equestrian centres in the area giving many different terrains from riding in the Mountains to the Desert.

Painting, Photography, Fiestas, Golf, Cabo de Gata Natioonal Park, Go-Karting, Mini Hollywood Theme Parks, Vera Water Park.

Wonderful food at interesting restaurants, Bars and of course it wouldn’t be Spain without the Tapas.

So many activities you'll just have to come again.

The farmhouse being the original 150 year old building in the hamlet of Los Josefos and has been lovingly restored to a very high standard, retaining many of the original features a majority of rooms still retain their low beamed ceilings, with modern bathrooms to provide elegant accommodation for our guests. For large parties Almond Reef and Reef Cottage can open up to become one unit. At Almond Reef, we can offer you all the facilities you require for a relaxing and sociable stay, in a lovely location and a beautiful unspoilt area of rural Spain Almond Reef B&B can accommodate up to 12 guests in double, single or family rooms, charming and comfortable all the rooms have quaint farmhouse individuality. In our beautiful garden is the private swim/spa pool, BBQ, outside dining area and covered patio set under the cliffs of an ancient fossil reef. After dark, stargazers will be delighted with the clarity of the night sky. Just a 25 minute drive is the lively coastal town of Mojacar and some of the most wonderful beaches and coves make this an ideal vacation destination.

Traditions of Reliability and Comfort

We decided to move to Spain a number of years ago after many years in business in the UK and find the change in lifestyle really suits us, Our purpose has been to create an informal holiday destination for people from all over the world, providing a modern and elegant facility retaining old Spanish farmhouse charm in a peaceful rural location but also close to the local attractions and amenities that the area has to offer.

The house itself is over 150 years old and has been lovingly restored to a high standard. Charming and comfortable, all the rooms have cosy, quaint farmhouse individuality. The majority still retain their low beamed ceilings, yet have a modern en-suite or adjacent shower and toilet. For winter evenings a welcoming log fire in our comfortable lounge is also available for all our guests.

Guests have tea and coffee making facilities. Also available is the use of a B.B.Q. large sun terrace and Swim/Spa Pool, with great views of the surrounding hills, mountains and the nearby village of Los Alias. After dark stargazers will be delighted with the clarity of the night sky.
