Vacation Rental Description
The holiday home was recently renovated, the accommodation is ideal for large or small families who want either a relaxing or active holiday in the mountains. Enjoy the superb south facing view of the mountains from the covered terrace and excellent walking and hiking direct from the villa or in the nearby mountains. The house sleeps 8 in 4 double bedrooms and the sofabed gives room for an additional 2. There are many facilities nearby including shops, restaurants, museums spas/waterparks, whitewater rafting, cycling, horse riding, fishing, kayaking, skiing etc.
Take advantage of the separate roof terrace with outstanding views adjacent to the master bedroom. The other three double bedrooms have hand-built single beds that can be put together to make double beds. All rooms have plenty of storage. The entrance hall leads to a new hand-built and well equipped kitchen with a small dining area. A separate dining room seats up to 12. The lounge has two big sofas, oak coffee table, wood burning stove, tv, dvd player with lots of dvds, books and music cds and is comfortable for up to 8 people. As well as the 4 bedrooms, the upstairs landing includes a pleasant seating area and new bathroom.
Savour your meals and drinks in the sun from dawn to dusk with a superb panoramic view under the south facing covered terrace whilst sitting on our garden furniture. Or just settle down with a good book and relax. If the sun gets a little hot then simply pull your chair back let the roof give you some shade. The terrace is a particularly good spot for barbeques and its roof enables you to stay outside should it rain.
You have the sole use of a spacious garden with an apple tree and a large walnut tree. There is plenty of parking space in the grounds and some outside lighting. Immediately behind the house is an interesting woodland rich in wildlife, including deer, and herons nest in the adjacent trees.
As well as summer, the villa is great for winter family holidays and for skiing.

Facilities
In the kitchen is a large new fridge freezer and coffee machine. You have the use of the washing machine and freestanding barbeque in the garage. The television receives a number of English channels via satellite and there are hundreds of DVDs and CDs of a wide variety. You will be welcomed and shown to the property by an English speaking Slovenia resident. They will show you around the house and give you a contact number in case of any emergency. During winter, the primary source of heating is a large built in wood burning stove and a separate cast iron wood stove in the lounge. All the wood is provided. The bathrooms have heaters and there are also some free standing electric heaters. The stairs to the upstairs are traditional chalet style with open wooden treads and two bannisters. They may not be suitable for very young children or very elderly/infirm people. See my website at the end of this page for more info.
Activities
The house is an excellent base for outdoor pursuits, including hiking, several spas/waterparks nearby, whitewater rafting, cycling, horse riding, fishing, kayaking and skiing at Golte, Velika Planina, Krvavec and Rogla.
You nearest public house is about 700 meters away. It is a quiet place and serves freshly caught trout from the adjacent river.
The nearest village is 1.5km away and has 2 bars and a small supermarket. The small town of Gornji Grad is about 3km away and has a bank, shops and restaurants. There are many other nearby towns that have a bigger range of shops, museums and other amenities.
The famous valley of Logarska Dolina is 25km away offering amongst the best walking in Europe.
The Villa's central location in Slovenia is ideal for day trips to Bled, Ljubljana, Maribor, Ptuj, the famous caves of Postojna, the wine trails of the east, Zagreb etc.

- Nearest Town : Gornji Grad at 3 kilometers distance
- Travel Info: Herons Place can be driven by car from most parts of Europe. It is particularly popular amongst the Dutch, Belgian, German and English people. The house also has a number of convenient airports within a 3 hour distance. These include Ljubjana (45 minutes away); Trieste (3 hours away); Venice (2.5 hours away); Graz; (2 hours way) and Klagenfurt (2.5 hours away).

Booking is reserved with a 25% deposit and the balance should be paid 60 days in advance. The stated prices are for four people. Each additional guest up to a maximum of 10 is £35 per person per week. Guests are free to bring their own towels and bed linen, or it is provided for a cost of Euro 7.5 per person. Discounts may be considered for short notice bookings and longer stays. Refundable cash deposit of Eur 300 required on arrival, to be refunded on your departure after a quick property inspection, less a Eur 40 cleaning charge. Shorter bookings may be available at the owners discretion. They are more likely to be possible off season or if a late booking.
