4 Bedroom Guest House in Transylvania

At the Valea Verde Retreat we have set out to create a true rural retreat that provides the discerning traveller with all basic comfort whilst preserving the simple, authentic charme of a Saxon farmhouse in the middle of a breathtaking natural setting. 
We have converted two connecting farmhouses into four apartments, all with their separate entrances and large terraces as well as en-suite bathrooms. All apartments are carefully furnished in order to create a relaxed, cosy and friendly atmosphere and in every living room we installed wood-burning stoves alongside the central heating to add extra warmth and comfort. As we know some of our guest do have to stay connected, we have installed a (sadly still very slow) WiFi Service and flat-screen TVs with DVD players and iPod docking stations. 
Furthermore we have rebuilt the old barn at the back of the houses and this beautiful building is now housing our very special small and highly acclaimed restaurant. Using only the best of local ingredients and carefuly sourced organic produce, we ambitiously set out to provide you with honest food of a high culinary standard. Along with a carefully selected list of local and international wines, spirits and a very special selection of Scottish Single Malt Whiskies we strive to make your dining experience match the impressing natural beauty we find ourselves surrounded by. Enjoy your meal in the cosy dining room with its large open fireplace and many candles or out on the terraces amidst enjoying the fresh and clean air in this land behind the woods! 
At the Valea Verde Retreat you can also find a beautiful wine-pavilion lushly furnished with sofas and armchairs, where you can enjoy a fresh cup of tea, a glass of port or Prosecco before your meal whilst enjoying the open fireplace or a a nice digestive after dinner. 
In the large, fenced in grounds of the Valea Verde you may also find a very special playground for children with a large wooden fortress with towers and balustrades as well as a boule pitch - not only for our francophile guests...

The tiny village Cund in Transilvania is located in the centre of the Carpathians close to the the mediaeval town of Sigisoara, the alleged birthplace of the legendary Count Dracula. The village is still strongly influenced by the traditions & customs of the Saxon community. Authentic and cordial family traditions and customs characterise the simple life of the local population of which most are self sufficient farmers who warmly welcome visitors. The overwhelming beauty and peaceful tranquillity allows room for consideration - without any distracting influences - and are the perfect setting for a holiday where you can relax all your senses. Cund is also an ideal base for exploring the many attractive old towns and cities in Transilvania. Within a radius of 100 km you can visit the old saxon towns of Sibiu (European Cultural Capital 2007), Sighisoara, Medias, Brasov, Bistritza, Agnita, Foggerasch, Regin and Tirgu Mures.

We are happy to offer horseback riding programms for beginners and experienced horseman - our german riding instructor Andreas with more than 35 years of professional experience is looking forward to explore the sheer endless valleys and hills with you! For Art-& Craftlovers we also host workshops and art-classes in our own traditional workshops.  
 
Children will find a beautiful playground with a large miniture Saxon fortified church (9x9m) in the back of the large grounds (1,6ha) of our Restaurant.  
We also offer cycling tours with our brand new quality touring bikes (Kreidler St. Tropez - Made in Germany).  
 
As a fully licensed tour operator we also offer custom made holiday packages for our guests: we can organise day trips, historical tours or complete guided or unguided tours within Romania! Furthermore we can offer bus transport for up to 15 Persons in our new (June 2008) Minibus or one of our hire cars - let us give you a quote!

Cund is an enchanting little village, that my father discovered in 1993 and immediately fell in love with. My wife and I decided to move here in 2003 from Hamburg and London, because we were equally intrigued by the authentic charm of rural village life in Transylvania and the overwhelming beauty of the nature surrounding us.
