Vacation Rental Description
Beautifully restored stone cottage at end of cobbled country lane. All you are likely to hear is birdsong and the gentle rush of the cascades. Wonderful views down the valley. The gardens are quite magical (especially fairy-tale when illuminated at night), with lots of moving water, rocks, terraces, winding pathways and walks, pond, petanque court. The pool is as natural as possible: spring-fed (silky smooth on the skin)through 600 mtrs of black piping in the full sun, with foot-friendly fine shingle bottom. No chlorine, pumps or boring tiles! Stands in lush green countryside, amongst the loveliest and most diverse in Europe, yet unspoiled by mass tourism. Many beauty spots and places of interest to visit. Amazingly cheap restaurants. Locals who really don't hate the English! Empty roads. Swimming in rivers and lakes (almost tropically warm in summer). A great place to escape the throng. You'll return home wondering why this area isn't better known, but glad that it isn't!  
The cottage may be rented jointly with another one-bed house (Casa de Noz) on the same site, making a capacity of six plus a child.

    • Free use of mountain bikes. Books and games. Petanque. Exclusive to Casa de Noz is an outdoor Japanese-style soaking tub (hot and cold water) in a private walled garden. Barbecue. Terrace with sun loungers, table and chairs. Hammocks. Good hot shower.

    • A special delight of this lovely region are the crystal rivers and lakes. The latter, especially, are almost tropically warm in summer, and so much safer to swim than the sea. Some have beaches with restaurants/café's, others you can have all to yourself. Visit the Roman ruins at Conimbriga, the riverside medieval university city of Coimbra, World Heritage Tomar, the vast golden beaches of the Costa de Prata (Silver Coast), the 'lost' mountain villages of the beautiful and verdant Serra da Lousã. This is the real Portugal, not a tourist rip-off!
