The bay of Sao Martinho Do Porto is a natural horseshoe bay, and is sheltered from the Atlantic. This makes the area an ideal location for families and children. The beach of Salir Do Porto is only a 5 minute walk down the road, if that. There is a boardwalk along the beach leading to Sao Martinho Do Porto, with a natural nature and conservation area. In the peak summer seasons there are water sports available. The beach at Foz Do Arelho is only a 10 mins drive, for windsurfing and sailing. 
 
Sleeps 6/8. 3 bedroom duplex apartment with roof terrace and patio furniture. Renovated to a high standard. Stunning sea and countryside views. Peaceful location in one of Portugal's most beautiful areas, only 95km north of Lisbon.  
 
Situated, in the bay of Sao Martinho Do Porto, a typical Portuguese resort. This is the real Portugal. Elevated in the village. Bars, beach and restaurants are within easy walking distance. 30 min drive to golf courses. 
 
A large 2 storey apartment which has been recently totally renovated and modernised to an exceptionally high standard. Located near the church in a wonderful position that offers views for miles. The first floor comprises full length balcony across front of property, 1 double bedroom leading to the balcony and with en-suite, 1 large twin bedroom, main bathroom, spacious lounge and dining room, large fully equipped kitchen with dining table and balcony off, utility room. Heading upstairs, the second floor comprises another large twin bedroom, and toilet and washroom.  
 
There is also another lounge/dining area with kitchenette, leading out onto a south facing roof terrace with views over the village. This set up of an internal self-contained area is ideal for those who may want their own space. Apartment has everything required on the doorstep - beach, bars, restaurants, a village shop (competitively priced) and is ideally located for visiting other local resorts and places of interest. 
 
Large open plan living eating area with leather sofas (one being a double sofa bed), and chairs. Dining table seats 6. Opens onto balcony. Coffee table, wood-burning fire/oven, TV unit with TV, DVD, X-Box. Music system. CDs, DVDs and games for your use.

Upstairs is an open plan lounge with 3 seater sofa, small dining area, and a kitchen area. For larger parties this area is ideal if some members wish to have their own space. Though not separately accessed, the upstairs is a self contained floor. 
 
Cleaning/ towels/ linen/ maid service 
Bath and hand towels and tea towels all included. All bed linen included. Bedding and towels cleaned weekly. Bring your own beach towels. Cleaning at end of rental included. For a full cleaning service in-between weeks, there is a charge, payable locally. 
 
The apartment is spread over the first and second floors with a staircase leading up to it. Inside is a further staircase to the second floor and roof terrace. While this puts it in a position of offering wonderful views, this may not be the ideal situation for those with mobility problems. 
 
The roof terrace is a good size and has patio furniture. It is south facing and therefore gets the sun all day. Great for sun worshippers! The roof terrace also has washing lines for drying laundry. The front balcony has a small table and chairs and is sheltered in the afternoon, for those wishing to have shade from the heat. There is a balcony off the kitchen which houses the gas bottles.

The world renowned 5 star Praia Del Rey 18 hole golf course is only a 30 minute drive away. The new golf course at Obidos, The Royal Obidos is also only a 30 minute drive away.  
There is a sailing club at Foz Do Arelho, approx a 20 minute drive away - offering sailing, kayaking, catamarans, etc. A great place to go for a few hours or for the day, and a restaurant/snack bar there, offering good food at great prices. 
The village has a number or bars and restaurants, all highly recommended. The prices are unbelievably cheap and the quality is fantastic. 
There is a water part at Nazare, approx a 20 minute drive. 
There is free tennis in the village.

  • Nearest Train Station : Sao Martinho do Porto at 2 kilometers distance
  • Nearest Town : Caldas de Rainhas at 8 kilometers distance
  • Travel Info: Peaceful Location in Traditional Village, 5 mins to Beach. Lisbon Airport is a 55 minute drive away, up the A8 motorway. Porto airport is a 2-3 hour drive away. Most of the low cost airlines travel to Lisbon airport. If you require information on booking flights, please ask. Car rental is available at all airports. Train and buses can be caught from Lisbon to Sao Martinho and Caldas Da Rainha. An airport collection and return service can be arranged for you. Please enquire for prices if this service is required. Car hire can be sought locally. Distance Sao Martinho Do Porto is a 3 mins drive, 20-30 minute walk/stroll, along the road, beach or boardwalk. Caldas Da Rainha, the nearest main town is a 15 mins drive. Obidos medieval historical town and lagoon is only a 20 mins drive (a must to see). Alcobaca with it's monastery is only a 30 mins drive (another must). Nazare, for the marina and beach, is a 15 mins drive. Foz Do Arelho, the beach and lagoon for water sports lovers is a 10 mins drive.

A £100 booking fee is required to secure a booking. The remainder of the monies is payable no later than 6 weeks before departure. A £100 damage deposit fee is also required at this time, which is fully refundable after an inspection has taken place. Money transfers - These are accepted but we do not accept the fees for transfers of monies and any fees charged to us will be taken out of the damage deposit before refunding.
Changeover day There is no actual changeover day. However, you are required to depart by 11.00 and arrive no earlier than 14.00. Arrangements can be considered and/or made if your departure or arrival times fall outside of these hours.

SHARE OUR GETAWAY HAVEN

We are Dave and Dee, a married couple in our 40's, living in Nottingham. We both work full time - Dave in the pharmaceutical industry and Dee as a self employed teacher of arts and crafts. We don't have any children, but rarely take holidays on our own, as all our family and friends love to go out there with us. We love fine weather and holidays and to spend as much spare time as we can in our property in Portugal - our escape from the rat race of working life! We wanted a property we could one day go and live in - we are hoping to do this in about 5 years time. Because of this we have modernised our apartment to a high standard as it is one day going to be our home. We are so pleased with the results, and we have to pinch ourselves that we did it and it's all ours! We are so lucky.
We had inherited some money after sadly losing our parents. We wanted to invest this wisely and had been talking about buying abroad for some time. We did a lot of research on where to invest in a property abroad, and Portugal was looking good. We took a weeks holiday to Sao Martinho and viewed some properties whilst we were there, and on the last day we put in an offer for this property - very impulsive, but we just fell in love with the country, the area and the people (the cheap drink and excellent food might have played a part in our decision!). The view sealed the deal! We wanted 'The Real Portugal', away from mass tourism, and we found it on The Silver Coast - often described as 'Portugal's best kept secret', and so true. It is beautiful.
We feel like we are away from it all while we are there, and yet we are close to everything we want from a relaxing holiday... The fantastic beach and bay are a short walk away, as well as bars and restaurants. The main resort of Sao Martinho Do Porto is only a 25 minute walk along the beach or boardwalk - a lovely relaxing stroll. We are in the heart of the village, near the church with fantastic views of the countryside, for miles. We just love to wake up in the morning, sit on the balcony, with the sun and a view of the bay and countryside - what more could one wish for?! The roof terrace is an added bonus. One of our requirements was outside space to enjoy the sun - and we have it all day long on the terrace. The internal layout is an advantage for those wanting their own space.
