Located in the old town, the house has an open plan living room/dining room/kitchen, opening on to cool courtyard for outside dining. Downstairs toilet and seperate laundry room. Upstairs: large master bedroom with double bed and room for fold down bed if needed. One single bedroom. One bedroom with single bed and pull-out bed if needed, opens on to little balcony overlooking courtyard. Toilet/shower room. Instant hot water. Three plug-in radiators. House supplied with gas canisters for hot water and gas cooking. Blankets and linen provided.

Plenty of surfing along the coast. Bird-watching (puffins, cormorants etc.), marina. Excursions to the isle of Berlenga. Traditional festivals and carnivals take place throughout the year, eg. Easter, Nossa Senhora de Boa Viagem, Carnivale. Peniche is also the traditional centre of lace-making, sessions can be viewed at a number of locations and examples bought. There is a historic fort and museum. A pre-dinner walk to the light-house is very pleasant. The fishermen in their small boats are a daily feature. Lisbon Zoo makea a great day out.

A few doors from a wine co-operative, and the beautiful San Pedro church. Fresh bread each morning just a stroll away, fantastic array of restaraunts and cafes offering all local produce - fish, meat, olives, wine. Excellent shops just a few streets away, and a weekly food market with produce from the area. Set in a quiet street in the heart of the town, there are two beaches within walking distance, and the marina is just five minutes away. Peniche is a traditional town, unspoilt by tourism, a stay here makes an excellent holiday in itself, but for those wishing to explore the region, Obidos is half an hour away and Lisbon one hour. All places can be reached by public transport, so there's no need to hire a car. There is also a taxi rank near by. We enjoy Peniche, and we hope you will too.
