The natural horshoe bay of Sao Martinho is very safe for bathing. There is a promenade around the bay which has many small cafes and restaurants where one can while away the day drinking wine and eating prawns to watch the world go by. A small children's playground can be found on the dront. There are bicycles for hire down on the sea front and wonderful areas to explore. The surfing beaches of Peniche and Baleal are easily reached. The sailing club of Foz do Alrelho is nearby where one can learn the art of wind surfing, canoeing and other water sports. Serra das Mangues is a great area for hand gliding and there are sites around for this acitivty. The golf courses of Rio Maior "Golden Eagle" is within easy reach as are the courses of Praia del Rey.
