The villa is of traditional Portuguese rustic construction, fully modernised in 2008. It enjoys panoramic views over the city of Amarante to the mountains and natural parks beyond. 
Amarante is a beautiful historic city, widely regarded as one of the jewels of Northern Portugal, but it has all of the ameneties needed. Supermarkets, Banks and full medical facilities are available, along with numerous cafes and restaurants. Food here is of excellent quality and very reasnably priced. The local wines, vinho verde, are cheap and truly worth trying. The city is`served by a modern motorway system allowing fast and easy access to the major attractions of Northern Portugal. The coast, with it's many fine sandy beaches, is an hours drive away. The magnificent Douro Valley is a World Heretidge and is just 30 minutes drive from the villa. Porto is easily reached by car or public transport. A day trip to Galicia in Spain is easily possible. 
This is an area of outstanding beauty, green and verdant, populated by friendly and generous people. Amazingly, it remains unknown to most people and you seldom see other holidaymakers. This is a place to relax and unwind.

• Travel Info: The city of Amarante is served by a modern motorway system. Porto airport is a 45 minute drive away. Hourly coaches run from Porto to Amarante. Porto airport is served by several airlines including Ryanair, and is a 2 hour flight from the UK. Brittany Ferries and P&O Ferries run regular services to Santandar and Bilbao in Spain, from where a 5 hour drive brings you to our villa. A rail journey through FRance and Spain is another option well worth exploring.
