The property is made up of 3 cottages, one normally reserved for use by the owners. All have central heating and share the pool (11m x 5m) and other outdoor facilities whilst each cottage retains its independence and privacy with a private patio. There is off-road parking and a shared laundry room. Each cottage is equipped with a variety of indoor games, a small library containing fiction and local guide books together with large scale maps of the area. DVDs and videos are also available. Outdoor furniture and sunshades are provided for each cottage for use on the private terrace/patio. There are more to be found around the pool. A portable barbeque is also available. The price is all inclusive. Bed linen and towels are provided in each bedroom with a fresh set for visitors of more than a week's stay. Teatowels and swimming towels are also available. There are logs for the fire during the winter months and cleaning is included in the price. Small quantities of most staples such as salt, sugar, pasta etc. are in the cottages and a welcome hamper is provided. A travel cot and clip-on baby chair are available together with a paddling pool and a few toys. A car is essential for visitors to the property. The hamlet of Casal do Pedro is very small but the village of Rendufe is only just over a mile away where there is a small village shop, a café, a restaurant and recycling bins. There are two protected areas within a 5 to 10 minute drive, one being the Corno de Bico, a natural reserve, home to semi-wild horses, eagles and other wild creatures. The other is the Lagoas just outside Ponte de Lima which is reclaimed marsh land. Both are ideal for walking enthusiasts. Part of the medievil route to Santiago de Compostela runs fairly close to the property. Although much of this ancient thoroughfare has been lost there are still considerable stretches which make an interesting walk. There are many other local walks, basically if one keeps to the footpaths and follows the waterways one can walk for miles. The town of Ponte de Lima with its magnificent Roman bridge across the River Lima boasts many fine restaurants and interesting buildings in its narrow winding streets. There are specialist fairs on the broad river walk together with the bi-weekly market on alternate Mondays. There are attractive gardens to explore, canoes and pedal boats can be hired on the river and there are walkways/lanes stretching several kilometres where one can find many river beaches. Paredes de Coura, the nearest market town, also has a bi-weekly Saturday morning market, several family style restaurants and an attractive river beach area.

The farm is well placed for many interestng outings. Galicia in NW Spain and the Atlantic coast are both a 30 minute drive away. The national parks of Peneda and Geres to the east make a memorable day trip as do the cities of Porto, Braga and Guimarães. The area abounds with picturesque market towns all with weekly markets. The best known is Barcelos (Thursday market)home to the typical red-brown pottery and famous Barcelos cock. There are many hilltop shrines with tiny chapels set on hills affording fantastic views of the surrounding countryside and the village festas, most of which take place in the summer months. There is a theme park - Bracolandia - in Braga. The Ponte de Lima golf course, according to several golf enthusiasts, is more attractive, less expensive and far less crowded than most of those in the Algarve. There is also a course in Estella and another in Vigo, both less than an hour's drive from the property.

Far from the crowded tourist areas of the south, the farm is set in the beautiful Minho area, a mountainous region of magnificient views, broad river valleys and quaint market towns. Two stone built cottages - sleeping 5 and 3/4 - restored to incorporate modern living standards whilst retaining many original features. Thick stone walls and traditionally small windows keep the interior cool in summer. The kitchen opens onto an attractive terrace ideal for outdoor meals. The farm house is approached by a flight of steep steps making it less appropriate for the elderly or toddlers. The Lagar cottage is all ground floor. The local farming community is friendly and helpful. The only noise one is likely to hear, apart from the occasional car or the chiming of the quarter hours from the 2 local churches, are the farmyard sounds of chicken, sheep and cows.
