"We stayed at Villamar for one week. We chose the property mainly because of the location. Having been to Madeira a number of times we thought that the south west corner was likely to be the sunniest. We did not make a mistake, in a week of mixed weather on the island we had great sunshine every day. On that basis we did most of our walking in the area or further west, one 7k walk found on Google Earth went passed the door. Ribeira Brava also has good access to the main road system so getting anywhere on the island was very easy. A look up the valley towards Serra de Agua will tell you in an instant whether it's worth heading for the high ground. The property itself basically had everything you could possibly ask for, Celio the owner could not have been more obliging and the welcome pack got us going from the get go even down to the beers and a bottle of Madeira! A modern, smart and very roomy property with great views. A variety of outside seating and loungers meant that you could find the sun at any time of the day. A nice touch was the ground floor garage (actually large enough for a two bedroom apartment on it's own) which was entered through a radio controlled gate and door. Internal stairs leading directly up to the main house so that it was not necessary to get out of the car in order to get into the house. The road outside only really leads to one other property so traffic is negligible. The neighbours were very friendly bringing us fruit and vegetables on a number of occasions and insisting that we joined in when the festival of Espirito Santo that passed by the door. All in all a property that we would not hesitate to re-book". Mike and Sally ( April 2012)

"It was great to meet you and your family and to spend time in such a
lovely villa. We are missing watching the beautiful sunsets from the
villa balcony each evening and our walking trips into the mountains during
the day. This was our first trip to Madeira and we were so impressed with
the Island and it's contrasts in scenery and climate. Perfect for
relaxing in the sun, but also perfect for getting into a slightly cooler
climate for walking up in the mountains.
Your villa proved the perfect location for us. Peaceful and private with
lovely views over the sea and coastline, yet with everything easily
accessible by car. The villa has absolutely everything we could have
wanted in terms of facilities and it all felt very luxurious having the
whole place to ourselves for two weeks! I have already recommended the
villa to a colleague at work!
Finally, I want to say thank you so much for your generosity and all your
help whilst we were there. You really do go the extra mile for people.
Thanks again, and I hope that we will be able to visit again - we would
love to experience Madeira at a different time of the year to see how
different it is then.
Best Wishes

"Hi Celio,
We had a lovely time in the villa which was very clean and well kept, the view was brilliant! We loved Madeira and would like to return one day. Highlights were visiting the old town in Funchal and seeing dolphins from a boat trip :) Would definitely say that a car is needed as the hills are very steep, however it is such a small island and the roads were very quiet so it doesn't take long to get around.
Thank you for all your help Celio and for your brother for showing us around,
Kind regards,
Sarah & Jon (August 2011)

"Spacious
We stayed at the house at the beguinning of August and had a fantastic holiday in Madeira. We all thought the villa was brilliant and really enjoyed our stay. The house is well equipped and very comfortable for a large family such as ours. We enjoyed very much sitting out on the veranda - looking out to sea - especially in the evenings. Needless to say our teenagers appreciated the WiFi! We spent our days either on the local beach which was great, or out touring and walking. We had a car which meant we managed to get around easily. Having the cross route to the north of the island directly from Ribeira Brava makes accessing the western side of Madeira very easy particularly. We had an especially good levada walk up above Porto Moniz which the boys especially enjoyed for the very cold waterfall pools! Your brother was very kind and welcoming - espeically showing us the local supermarket on the first evening, and it was lovely to have the phone call in the week to see that all was ok. I would recommend the house to anyone looking for a good qualify comfortable holiday home.

"Dear Celio,
We stayed at the house in May 2011. The house is exactly as it looked on
the website. There was only 2 of us and there was more than enough space
for 6 people comfortably.
The décor is very modern and the 3 bedrooms are really spacious. The house
has really beautiful, the wood flooring and has nice touches like sensors in
the bathroom so the lights turn in automatically. The kitchen is fully
equipped and includes dishwasher, washing machine etc.
The view from the house are amazing and you get the sun all day. There are
comfortable chairs and loungers that you can sit out on. We loved watching
the fishing boats go by, large and small.
The house is on the road, but it is so quiet and is only used for a few
houses that are on the street, so you may only hear 1 or 2 cars pass a day.
We were hoping to walk into Ribeira Brava which is down a very steep windy
hill, but decided at night it was too far walk. We had a car for the
duration of your stay which is a must so we just drove or ate at the house.
We went to eat out in Ponta Do Sol and we found it easy to get a taxi. We
used a taxi where the driver could speak English so we had no problem. He
was so helpful, we used him a few times.
We decided on Madeira for it's walking, however we weren't so lucky with the
weather as it was raining in the mountains, but it was always dry at the
Villamar house. From talking to the locals this was unusual for this time
of year.
Kind regards

"Hi Celio,
"Just a quick email to thank both you and your brother for your support during our stay. Despite some indifferent weather on a couple of days we had a great time and the house is lovely – spacious and homely. Kevin and I would like to come back to Madeira without the children and go on some of the lovely walks – they couldn’t be persuaded this time.

Dear Mr Rebolo
"Thank you for renting us your house Villamar at Ribeira Brava . We were very satisfied with the property it was way beyond our expectations being extremely spacious and comfortable the wood floors throughout were particular impressive . Although there were only 3 in our party it was clear that the house would easily accommodate 6 people in comfort. The kitchen was well equipped with gas stove, oven and microwave that were in top condition and easy to use (something that you don't always find in holiday rentals).the bathrooms were also superb. Finally the location! a stunning view over the sea with space to enjoy it from the terrace and balconies. The area was quite and a short distance to the Tabua valley and the lavada nova which we enjoyed walking".
"We found Ribeira Brava a convenient spot to explore the west and north of the island , the road to Sao Vicente being very good for the trip north. The road to Funchal is also good so we we spent some time there and at Monte also Camara De Lobos. To get the best from a holiday here you do really need a car and be happy to drive on winding roads we felt quite safe but do have a good head for heights. For an exciting run with spectacular scenery take the road to Furna left at the cafe at the top of the road"
"We had meals out in Ribeira Brave on the sea front and found both restaurants good, our favourite was Dom Luis. One thing to note, in Madeira fish is often sold by weight so can sometimes be more expensive than you expect ,so ask how much before you order."

"We stayed in Villamar late February 2011 and would thoroughly recommend it!
Stunningly decorated throughout and very spacious, the house is a great base for exploring the island with the new road and tunnel network easily accessable and several beaches located nearby. Villamar is fully equipped with all mod-cons and is located in a beautiful yet quiet part of the island. The house has views that will really take your breath away - from the front of the house you can look across the sea (the sunset from one of the two balconies is not to missed!), while bananna plants and dramatic hillsides surround the rest of the property.
"It is worth hiring a car as the house is up a rather large hill, but also good for getting out to see what Madeira has to offer. The roads are very easy to work out (the odd scary hairpin bend here and there but they add to the fun!). We got a car through Auto-Europe, £88 for a Ford Fiesta for the week (great value!) and drove from the airoprt to the house within 30 minutes".
"The resort of Ribera Brava whilst not that busy during February, had some very nice bars and restaurants, particularly if you like fresh fish! It is possible to walk to down to Ribera Brava from the house in about 30 minutes (all downhill!) but would recommend a taxi back up, which are easy to find in the town.
Celio, the owner of Villamar was very welcoming and ensured we had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. It was really great to know we could call on him if we needed to."
