The apartment overlooks the National Palace, in the heart of the historical centre. The apartment has been totally refurbished and equipped with a new kitchen. The wooden floors have been totally restored to keep the property original as it first was. Sintra is a small town, with the Atlantic coast about 12 Km drive away, surrounded by wooded hills and overlooked by ruins of a fortress dating back to the Almoravid occupation of this region. The climate here is unique, cool in Summer, mild and romantically misty in Winter. Both the most popular locations and the less frequented ones, enchant al types of visitors. Discover why no corner of Sintra should be left unexplored. it offers excellent restaurants to cater for all, cafés, shops, banks, a market for fresh produce, bakeries are located steps away.

First time visitors to Sintra must see the 'Palacio Nacional', which stands noble with high white cone-shaped towers, rising from red-terracotta roofs buildings. Around this monument are lush trees and gardens. The ride up the mountain to the monument has much to appreciate as well, with mystical trees and shrubs next to peaceful streams. At the top of the hill, with views of the Sintra Mountains and Pena Park, lies a castle that is right out of a childhood’s fantasy book. The castle was constructed in the first half of the 19th century over the ruins of a 15th century convent. It's primary colors are a pale yellow and a rustic red, as well as some blues and grays. There are tressles and arches and towers, combining gothic architecture with its dramatic arches. All of the structure is impressively preserved. Below lie the Sintra Mountains which were called ‘Mountain of the Moon’ and are believed to have supernatural, magic powers. One can simply feel like they are in a dream.

The apartment is on a first floor therefore it would not be suitable for the elderly or infirm as there are only stairs to the apartment. Only offstreet parking is available at this property, some parts of the historical centre have smaller free parking areas.

The local region is famous for its beaches, restaurants, palaces, walking and golf. And Lisbon is only 30-40 minutes away. The beaches of Sintra's coastline are Praia Grande (great for surfing), Praia das Maçãs, Praia da Adraga, Praia da Ursa and Magoito, all 10 to 20 minutes car trip from the house. There is another really big beach called Guincho along the coastal route to Cascais where the surfing world championships have been held. Around the sandy stretch of the Praia das Maçãs there are several restaurants, cafés, bars, a disco, as well as shops selling local crafts, esplanades and excellent food both in the summer or in the winter. A picturesque tramline connects Sintra to Colares & Praia das Maçãs. There are also a number of excellent restaurants along the Guincho beach coastline.
