Casa Mar à Vista : 80 m2 - large patio terrace and 2500m2 of private grounds 
 
Just refurbished for summer 2009, Mar à Vista House is now ready to welcome guests; it merits its name, which means "Sea View". The house is entered via the large private grounds surrounding it. All rooms are on the ground floor with direct access to the terrace from the living room and kitchen. The living room is light and spacious, with seating for 6. It has a flat screen satelite TV and DVD. There is a a double sofa bed; and for parties of 8, another double fold-up bed can be installed in the living room. The fully equipped modern kitchen has a spacious dining area and direct access to the terrace. The second bathroom is located here and doubles up as a guest bathroom. The two bedrooms are found to the left of the living room. The double bedroom can be configured to having an en-suite bathroom if preferred, as there are access doors from each bedroom which can be locked. The other bedroom has a single bed with another pull-out bed underneath. 
 
The spacious terrace (20m2) just opposite the house is very sunny with beautiful pine and sea views. There are gates to the terrace to protect child from the pool area, which is in front of the terrace. Although the swimming pool is small, it will afford hours of fun to small chilren and a welcom refreshment to adults. 
 
The house is surrounded by 2500m2 of private grounds, lawn area and pine woods. The main villa of the grounds is currently not inhabited so guests will have a very large property all to themselves! 
 
Sintra, 15km away, is unique and deserves its status as a world heritage site. First the Moors, then the Portuguese kings who expelled them, built their castles and palaces there. Later ages brought rich foreigners who created villas and palaces with lush gardens and romantic architecture - outdone by king Don Fernando, whose bizarre palace anticipated mad King Ludwig's Rhine castles by several years.  
 
The location is ideal for exploring not just Sintra but central Portugal. Lisbon is 40 minutes by car, and Cascais and Estoril are 30 minutes away. Famous Ericeira beach is close by. Further afield, in easy day trips from Sintra, you can visit the walled city of Obidos, the Knights' templar castle of Tomar and Batalha Abbey, the monastery palace of Mafra, the seaside town of Sesimbra, Palmela castle and Arrabida national park.

    Located by Magoito's vast and magnificent beach, the house is set in a pine wood in the best quarter of Magoito. The area is part of the Sintra-Cascais National Park, where building is restricted and nature protected, with countryside stretching in all directions. 
     
    The beach is 10 minutes by footpath or 2 minutes by car. The local village of Magoito, with its shops and restaurants, is a pleasant 500m stroll away. 
     
     
    Gastronomy and wine tasting 
     
    Sintra is famed for its 'queijadas' and local wines from Colares. Local restaurants are both good and inexpensive. Wineries can be visited in person or as part of an organised tour. The owner of the villa also owns the local beach restaurant and cafe Duna Mar 500m away. She will prepare delicious dishes to savour at the restaurant or will deliver them at the villa.
