Vacation Rental Description
Lovingly restored by its owner and ready for occupancy in July 2009,Casa dos Arcos will delight appreciators of fine restoration, nature, privacy and peace. The total refurbishement was finished in July 2009, using original materials and pieces from the owner's antique shop, with exquisite taste and attention to detail.The house has retained much of its original character but now has modern day comforts added. Everything is brand new for 2009, and our first guests will inaugurate this magnificent renovation in July! 
 
Whilst the exterior is green and lush, inserted in the Arrabida natural park, the interior is beautifully cool, natural air conditioning being provided by the villa's thick original walls and shaded patios around the house."Casa dos Arcos" means "house of the arches"; a name inspired by the many pretty roman arches that the terraces have. 
 
Many antique and rustic pieces are found amongst modern comfortable furniture, and some unique pieces are for sale. The house is decorated in neutral colours, which enhances the beautiful pieces and the lushness of the gardens. Very chic and welcoming for a truly unforgettable luxurious holiday! 
 
The house is entered via an original outside staircase leading to the spacious entrance hall which lead to the communal rooms. On this floor the large well proportioned sitting room overlooks a large patio area with a stunning green views of the gardens and the Arrabida mountains beyond. The covered patio is ideal for outdoor meals or just reading a book undisturbed. Further along we find the separate formal dining room, again with direct outside access. The brand new modern kitchen is very spacious and fully equipped, also with access to another covered patio area; from the kitchen a pantry area is also found. On this floor there is also a guest toilet room. Satellite wide screen TV with international channels, internet access, and stereo system enhance your enjoyment.  
 
On the upper floor, there are 4 spacious bedrooms, two with double beds and two with twin beds. Two of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and the other two share a bathroom. On this floor, there is an additional storage room with window, that can double up as a smaller sixth bedroom if needed (6m2). On the garden floor, the fifth bedroom is located, self-contained with its en-suite bathroom; this bedroom has direct access to its private terrace and the garden ; it is only made available for parties of more than 8 people or by special request. All the 5 main bedrooms are very spacious and have generous storage space. They are all extremely quiet and have pretty leafy views over the gardens. 
 
Along a private path surrounded by a stunning landscaped garden the swimming pool with its own patio area is situated 150m from the house; the pool house has with WC, shower and storage space. 
 
This is an ideal place to enjoy nature, bird watching and for long walks in unspoiled surroundings, all in close proximity to spectacular beaches. The only noise you will hear is that of nature and your party! 
 
Included in the price is the gardening, pool maintenance and twice weekly cleaning. By prior arrangement the house caretaker can shop, cook delicious meals and provide additonal cleaning. A truly indulgent and luxurious holiday with personalised service! 
 
Gastronomy and wine tasting 
 
The region of Azeitão is famed for its gastronom, and even the local supermarket, Intermarché, has a mix of gourmet and standard products; the supermarket is about 3km from the villa. The local gastronomic festival is held from June to September. Fresh grilled fish is an inexpensive delight. Five formal wine routes have been devised in the Setubal peninsula by the ‘Rota de Vinhos’ association, combining wine tasting with sightseeing, arts and nature. The villa is ideally situated to take best advantage of these delights of the area.

    The villa is surrounded by many sandy beaches, all with different characteristics. The magnificent bay of Portinho de Arrabida, with its clear quiet waters, it is ideal for watersports. Sesimbra, Caparica, Meco and Troia beaches are all easily accessible. 
     
    Golf Information  
     
    Quinta do Peru just 10 Kms from the villa, Tróia (10 kms and a ferry away) a difficult course but one of the most beautiful in Portugal, and Riba Golf (40 Kms away) 
     
    Optional additional maid service, shopping and cooking 
     
    Included in the price is twice weekly cleaning. The villa's caretaker is available for further cleaning, shopping and cooking delicious meals by prior arrangement. 


    Travel Options
    • Nearest Airport : Lisbon Airport at 35 kilometers distance;
    • Travel Info: Two hours flight from most European cities and seven from New York, the villa is reached by car from Lisbon Airport in 45 minutes. Faro airport is 2 hours away. The motorway junction is 6km away. The local pretty village of Vila Nogueira de Azeitão is 2km away and has shops and supermarkets (even a "intermarché") for your daily requirements. There is a tourist bureau here and many points of interest. A car is essential for this holiday as there is no public transport to the Villa.
