Vacation Rental Description
This architect designed villa is set in a 14 hectares estate of pine woods, located at about 5 miles from the fishermen's town of Sesimbra. Casa do Lago is an excellent choice to lovers of nature, both the countryside and the sea.The villa was featured in a number of architecture and designer magazines for its obvious designer merits. The estate is owned by an internationally renowned Portuguese artist, and has been a great source of inspiration for his work; it was designed for him by his architect friend, also an artist; sensitive minds will appreciate the many personal touches all over the estate; no one leaves from Quinta da Foz feeling indifferent, it is one of those rare places where modernity and nature blend in perfect harmony and transmit a sensation of well being and serenity; many feel inspired by Casa do Lago and leave full of ideas for their own life projects.The owner retains a house for his occasional use on the estate and is an endless source of information on local delights and secret finds.
The main house, Casa do Lago, can be rented by itself for up to eight people, or in conjunction with its annex, Casa do Artista, for up to 10 people. Casa do Lago is available to rent throughout the year.
Most of the house is on the ground floor, with spaces flowing seamlessly into each other;the large double height living room with seating for 12 makes the most of the magical light of the area and has sliding doors on one side opening onto a terrace with view to the private lake and then the beautiful ocean 1km away and on the other side onto a small sheltered patio with a lemon tree. For colder nights, the heating and fireplace provide the comfort required for long memorable evenings gazing at the stars in comfort, or long chats. The dining and seating areas just flow into each other, and everyone who wants a quiet moment will find their private corner. The dining room opens to a big outdoor patio of 70m2 with a barbecue and an imposing stone table for up to 18 seats. The fully equipped kitchen is accessed from the dining area and has a back entrance.
The main bedroom occupies a whole section of the house; it has a separate large living room with sofa-bed for two, stairs leading to an open plan area with a chinese canopy bed and the most spectacular view, its own en-suite bathroom; the bedroom has a large double bed and its own separate kitchinette in case you don't want to go all the way to the kitchen for a light meal!
Bedroom two is light and airy and has a large double bed. It shares a bathroom with bedroom three which has twin beds.
The immense 50m2 roof terrace occupies the whole width of the house and is completely private.From there you can gaze at the breathtaking 360 degree panorama, with a broad sea view to the West with in the far distance the legendary Sintra Mountain, the equally legendary Cape Espichel to the South and the back hills densely covered with pine trees.
There is another 25m2 small patio,a quiet zen area with an orange tree and interesting seating area, an ideal spot for quieter moments.
There is safe shaded parking for 8 cars in the 14 hectare property, which is fully fenced.
Cleaning twice a week is included in the price.
Casa da Foz can be rented together with a small one bedroom annex, Casa do Cipreste, accommodating parties of up to 10 in total.
You can walk through the woods and reach the sandy beach “Praia da Foz”,1.5km away from the house, in 20 minutes; or you can drive and be there in 2 minutes!
A few kilometers further is the long stretch of sandy beach Praia do Meco. Relax in a bar on a wooden deck and enjoy the sunset looking at the the fishermen in their traditional coloured boats in beaches further afield. Or simply enjoy the magnificent spectacle of everchanging scenery.

Beaches
"Praia da Foz", 1.5km away, is a fine sand beach, after which the estate was named; it is a beautiful unspoilt beach surrounded by cliffs, prolonged by a vast rocky platform used by fishermen. Further, you can find the beach “Praia das Bicas”, popular for surfing. To the north you'll discover the largest and main beach, “Praia do Meco”, with three miles of white sand and beautiful cliffs. This is the most uninhibited and naturist beach in Portugal.
Gastronomy and wine tasting
In a country that has such an extensive coastline, it is not surprising that the sea should be one of the main sources of its cuisine. In the many restaurants of Meco, Sesimbra or Setubal, you can find all sorts of the most fresh and delicious grilled fish and also the best seafood, such as clams, mussels or shrimps.

Villa Peru is located in the Parque Natural da Serra da Arrabida, 5 Km away from beautiful beaches and close to Vila Nogueira de Azeitao - a small historic town surrounded by the national park and well known for its vineyards and wine cellars open to the public. Arrabida beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal, and boasts a natural bay with calm waters, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Apart from Lisbon, 30km away, Azeitão, Setubal, Palmela and Sesimbra are easily reached, making the self-catering villa an ideal base for unforgettable daily excursions.
Quinta do Peru private condominium offers all the privacy and yet security of one of the most luxurious estates in the region of Sesimbra. Within the grounds you will find the world wide recognised Quinta do Peru Golf Course which offers amateurs a pleasant game, whilst also presenting a challenge for professionals.
The luxurious self-catering villa is situated in the Natural Park of Arrabida, established to protect the beautiful landscape and rich variety of wild life, including eagles, wildcats and badgers.
The surrounding mountains are the perfect place to go for a walk, and excursions can be organised with the local nature tour companies.
The villa is very safe and secluded as it is within a gated condominium with 24 hour security.
Sesimbra, a short drive away, is a quaint fishing town, famous for its castle, beach and beautiful sea front. Palmela has a towering very well preserved castle. Setubal has excellent fish restaurants by the sea front and a ferry to the nearby resort of Troia. Boat trips are organized to watch the dolphins living in the Sado estuary.
The local white sandy beaches are as close as 5 Km and the Arrabida beach is known to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal. With its calm waters, it's ideal for swimming and snorkeling.
The outdoor swimming pool for private use of guests is reached in the lower part of the private gardens.
The villa is heated in winter and the beautiful fireplace provides additional comfort and atmosphere.

Apart from Lisbon, 40km away, Azeitão, Arrabida, Alcacer do Sal, Setubal, Palmela and Sesimbra are easily reached, making the self-catering villa an ideal base for unforgettable daily excursions. This is if you manage to leave the estate! A car is essential for this holiday as there is no public transport.
