Vacation Rental Description
Quinta Cottages are set in the rolling picturesque landscape of rural Portuguese life, made up of two beautiful properties; Chestnut Barn and Mimosa Cottage.
These holiday homes are based on the Quinta do Vale de Ferreiro, a farm house with 24 acres of terraced pastures inhabited by chickens, ducks, goats and sheep, interlaced with Eucalyptus forest, pine and oak trees, olive and various fruit trees, and bordered on one side by a meandering brook with a natural swimming hole and waterfall.
Matt, Jo and family welcome their guests onto their farm with woodland walks, 2 swimming pools, children’s playground with sand pit, football area and much more……
Guests have use of all of the land for exploring or painting etc there is plenty of local wild life such as the egyptian mongoose that we saw just this week, many birds such as the green woodpecker, and many more.
As parents ourselves we understand how difficult it can be to take all those accessories your children need. Therefore,we have included a wide range of equipment, toys and games for children of all ages.
Quinta do Vale de Ferreiro is just a ten minutes walk through the woods to the local village which has 2 cafes/bars, a fishmonger, a small shop selling basic food and wine, a pharmacy and a post office. We are just a ten minute drive from Oliveira do Hospital with its bars, restaurants, main supermarkets, hospital etc.
There are many acitivies in the area from kayaking, climbing, horse riding, walking, mountain biking, skiing in the winter, river swimming, fishing, surfing, etc.
At the Quinta cottages we are trying to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Recycling is encouraged at each cottage with bins for glass, metal and plastic as well as organic waste which we then use for own compost and animal fodder. All of the water on site is from our own springs and wells, we grown our own vegetables and have fresh eggs every morning. We make our our own English style bacon, ham and sausages available for purchase.
What ever type of holiday you are looking for, whether it is relaxing by the swimming pool, getting a tan and reading a book, to visiting historical monuments, to activities such as horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, wine tasting, fishing, sailing, river swimming or snow boarding and skiing in the winter try Quinta cottages.

It has many rivers with beaches where swimming and boating are available and the sea is only one and a half hours away if you want to surf etc. We are midway between the coats and the mountains so there is easy access to both areas. We can help arrange transport and ski passes etc with guides or teaching if required. The guides are English speaking and knowldgeable about the area. Kayaking or climbing can also be arranged.
