Vacation Rental Description
Casa El Salhandais is a privately owned property situated on the top of Ferragudo village. It is about a 40 minute drive west from Faro airport. It will sleep 6 people in comfort and has further basement accommodation to accommodate 2 people by prior arrangement with the owners. All rooms except the kitchen have air conditioning units which also act as heaters during winter months. The house has a heated pool for winter use and a log burning fire. A car is not essential as the village is only a short stroll where there are shops, some wonderful restaurants and bars and the beach is only a few minutes walk. However, should you want to explore the beautiful Algarve and its fine sandy beaches or venture further inland into the Wine regions then car hire can be arranged locally.
Ferragudo has escaped mass tourism. It sits between the harbour walls on the banks of the river Arade. Praia Grande beach offers safe bathing and many activities. The village has many fine restaurants and the village square has lots of café bars. On Saturday evenings during the summer months, the square is buzzing with the sound of music – Portuguese style! The nearest towns of Cavoeiro, Portimao and Praia da Rocha are only a short drive away. Portimao, the marina at Praia da Rocha and the sardine restaurants can be reached by the local ‘Water Taxi’, which will collect and return you to Ferragudo. For the golf enthusiasts there is a host of courses within easy reach. The nearest being Gramacho, a 10 minute drive.
The Algrave offers many things to do and see – Water Parks, Zoo Marine is a great place to see and swim with Dolphins, boat trips, fishing trips, Jeep Safaris, Golf and many water sports which can all be booked at the Tourist Information Office in Ferragudo village. There are also trips that can be arranged to take you into the Alentejo, Lisbon or Seville. The beautiful scenery of the Monchique hills are only a short drive where Chicken Piri Piri can be enjoyed with spectacular views.
The property is self catering and change over day is Saturday, with arrival times at 4.00 pm and departure times at 10.00 am, but this may be negotiable. However, luggage may be stored at the property. Towels (bath and beach) and all bed linen is provided. The kitchen comprises of hob and oven x 2, dish washer, fridge freezer x 2, microwave, washing machine and a good selection of kitchen utensils. There is a living area and dining area with seating for 8 people and a TV, freeview satellite, DVD player and CD player with a selection of CD’s and DVD’s suitable for all ages. There is outdoor furniture around the pool, including 6 sun-beds, on the ground floor balcony and on the balcony leading from the master bedroom. The master bedroom has a double bed with en-suite and there are 2 further twin bedded rooms and a further bathroom on the first floor. On the ground level there is a cloakroom, a further shower room and toilet at basement level and an outside shower by the swimming pool.
The basement accommodation has its own living area with dining for 4 people and a double bed in the sleeping area. There is also a TV with Freeview Satellite and a CD player. The kitchen has a hob and oven, fridge freezer and sink unit and houses the poolside ‘glassware and plates’ (plastic is only allowed around the poolside).

*** SPECIAL RATE*** Winter weekly rates from November to March, 1st and 2nd person £150 each per week and any additional persons £50 per week each and children under 2 FREE! Excludes Christmas and New Year period. NB: Additional electricity charges will be payable for this period. Payment of 20% deposit required when booking along with £100 to cover breakages. This 'breakage' deposit will be returned by cheque or cash on inspection of the house at the end of your stay. The final balance to be paid 4 weeks prior to departure. The change over day during peak season and school holidays is Saturday, however this is negotiable depending on bookings. Check in on arrival is 3.00 pm and check out for departure is 10.00 am. This can be flexible depending on bookings - we will always do our best to accommodate. Long term winter bookings (3 weeks or more) between November and March can be negotiated.
