We have just spent a wonderful week in Salsalito. We were met on arrival by Sally & Ralph & as they say in Ireland they were great craic. It really is like being in someones home without them being intrusive. Our first 4days we were in the Sintra room, moving to the Santa Fe for next 4days, which we enjoyed immensely. It is quite private with your own covered patio area & loungers. The gardens are beautifully kept with lots of interesting areas to explore.& there is a nice relaxing feeling throughout Salsalito.I know we will be making a return visit

There is no place like home Sally& Ralph look after all their guests like long lasting friends at salsalito. We swam in the beautifull pool, lounged on the terrace, drank drinks at the bar and relaxed. This is more than excellent way to enjoy life.WE are coming back soon so get the wine in the cooler, loungers out we will be there, Jo & Gary. We have told so many friends about sasalito that we hope there will be room for us.xx

We’re just back from a fantastic holiday in the Algarve where our choice of accommodation played a huge part. Salsalito is an amazing place which Sally and Ralph have put a huge amount of thought into, and obviously care very much about. We were looking for somewhere peaceful and quiet but within walking distance of restaurants and that’s exactly what we got. For the first five nights of our stay we were in the Santa Fe room which is separate from the rest of the house and has it’s own private terrace. The room itself is gorgeous but the terrace is something else. Perfect for getting a break from the sun during the day or to sit with a glass of wine before heading out for an evening meal. In saying that, there was no need to head out to eat. At the bottom of the garden there is a fully equipped kitchen (and I mean fully equipped, every kind of dish and utensil you could imagine as well as cooker and microwave) with a separate fridge and cupboard for each of the four rooms. A huge barbeque and lovely seating area to top it off makes it’s look like a fun place to have a meal if you were less lazy than us.
Our remaining two nights were spent in the Sintra room in the house itself . It was just off the lovely hallway and only a few steps away from the outside terraces. There is a fantastic honesty bar, next to the terrace, which seemed very well stocked, and a great place to get chatting to other guests. I think the fact many of them had previously stayed there says it all.
The grounds are really beautiful with a lovely shaped swimming pool and it was great to be able to try out the other areas of the garden for sitting getting the sun, or a bit of shade under the gazebo. There was nothing better than looking out over it during a very tasty breakfast realising you’ve just found the definition of paradise.
Burgau, the local village, is only a ten minute walk away and has a small supermarket and good few restaurants. We also ventured into Luz, a few minutes drive away, and Lagos about 10 minutes in the car. Lagos has a huge amount of variety and a bit more going on at night if you fancy venturing further a field. We had a hire car but I’m sure it wouldn’t cost much in a taxi.
We really loved our stay at Salsalito. So many different bits to the garden with an abundance of plants and flowers along with many other decorative items make it a very special, even magical place. Sally and Ralph are fantastic hosts who really helped us relax and have a wonderful holiday.

I can't recommend Salsalito enough, it is a beautiful place. Stunning gardens and pool. The guest area and bar are decorated to give a feeling of warmth and relaxation - truly magical! I was one of the stranded many during the Icelandic Volcano episode and Sally and Ralph were fantastic! And what a special place to be stranded! I'll definitely be going back!
