Vacation Rental Description

Beautifully furnished, spacious 2 bedroom apartment on the 1st floor of a two storey block with open views over to the Monchique hills from an east facing double balcony with outside furniture. Comfortable and fully equipped with all the luxuries of home, the apartment is air conditioned and heated and suitable for year round holidays.

Oasis Parque is a long established residential development with a superb on onsite leisure centre open all year with an indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, tennis courts, outdoor pools for adults and children, playground and an onsite restaurant open all year round. In a convenient village location of Chao das Donas, there are also bars and restaurants in the vicinity and several shopping centres and supermarkets.

The area has much to offer for a family holiday or for a winter sun break. It has stunningly beautiful beaches, both wide open stretches of sand and the typical Algavian cove beaches with the sandstone rock formations. Many boat trips are available to explore the coves, many on traditional sailing vessels that have been restored. For the more active, a wide range of water sports are available and there is also diving and deep sea fishing, book at the marina in Portimao.

There are charming traditional villages and fishing towns to explore all along the coast and inland towards the Monchique hills. Fabulous views can be enjoyed from Foia on the top of the Monchique where there is also a craft shop and restaurant. It can be reached by car or bus or on an organised trip, book via the tour shops.

Silves has a fully restored castle and a tourist centre with a series of events during the summer months, pick up a programme from the local tourist information centre. It can be reached by car or bus or by boat from Portimao during the high tide, trips can be booked down at the harbour or in the tour shops.

The centre of Portimao with its old town is good for shopping and has several museums, art galleries and a theatre and auditorium with a full range of concerts, ballets, operas and shows. There is a casino at Rocha and lively nightlife. Alvor has a lower key nightlife suitable for younger families and couples of all ages. The Irish bars have live music every night and there are several kareoke bars. There are also cozy traditional inns, particularly nice in the winter months and a huge choice of restaurants to suit every taste and budget.

There are several golf courses within a short drive with a discount of 25% available at the Boavista course in Lagos, please book at reception using your leisure card.

For the children there are three water parks, the best being at Lagoa, and many attractions suitable for children near Albufeira, about 20 minutes drive down the main A22 motorway. There is a zoo near Lagos. On the way to the Monchique is a museum with a restored traditional Portuguese house and an animal farm.

The sand festival at Pera is always worth a visit, particularly at night when it is lit up with floodlights.

The autodrome has a regular series of events including Formula 1, stock car racing and vintage car racing, pick up a programme from the tourist shops. It can be reached by bus on a new regular service from Portimao.

The climate is mild in the winter with temperatures rarely dropping below 12C. The hottest months are July and August where temperatures are up in the 30's with few rain showers but there is usually a cooling breeze.

The apartment has a kingsize double and two single beds. For young families, a cot and high chair is available free of charge. A blender can also be supplied, please enquire at the time of booking. A single or double inflatible bed can also be supplied for 25 pounds for the single and 50 pounds for the double(free for children under 16). All linen and towels are provided (including beach towels), basic toilettries and kids beach toys. Tennis racquets and balls are also provided (please book the courts at Reception in July and August using your leisure centre card). There is satellite TV with English Freeview and Portuguese channels, a DVD player and Hi Fi with a library of DVD's and CD's. Internet is available at Reception. The owners lives in the area and is available to help and assist with any aspect of your stay.

The Algarve is a long established touristic destination and has a variety of activities available for all ages and abilities. Information is readily available from tourist centres in Portimao, Alvor and Rocha or please contact the owner who lives in the area and can advise where to eat, visit etc.

Travel Info: Oasis Parque is a residential development with an onsite Leisure Centre situated 6km from Alvor, 4km from Portimao and Praia da Rocha. Within easy reach of the A22 and N125, the complex is also served well by local bus routes and it is not necessary to hire a car.

Oasis Parque is situated on the edge of the Western/Central Algarve within easy reach of Junction 4 of the A22. The area has much to offer visitors with superb beaches featuring the rocky sandstone cliffs for which the Algarve is famous. The Monchique hills dominate the skyline to the north and can be easily reached via Junction 5 of the A22 on a well surfaced road. Foia at the very top offers superb views over the Algarve and on a clear day the Silver Coast can also be seen. At the top is a restaurant and craft shop.

Alvor is just 6km to the south, it still has a traditional fishing village feel and has a beautiful natural wide beach as well as cove beaches and water sports are available. There are many traditional Portuguese restaurants and it is particularly good for fish. For the more active, Rocha is just 3km away and has lively nightlife and more international cuisine, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, English and Portuguese.

Portimao itself is a charming town with an old quarter full of cobbled streets. On the outskirsts are several shopping centres with high street brands seen across Europe. There is a sardine museum on the harbour which is well worth a visit on a rainy day and sardine restaurants down towards the bridge over to Ferragudo.

Ferragudo is the small fishing village over the water which has a beautiful beach with a Moroccan and Portuguese restaurant open in the summer months. There is a stunning church at the top of the hill which is well worth the walk! You can recover with a drink at the small bars and restaurants in the village afterwards.

The charming old town of Lagos is only 20 minutes drive to the West where there is a fantastic beach at Meia Praia, a marina and shopping in old cobbled streets.

For those liking charming traditional pubs, try Sancho Pancha in Alvor which is the oldest pub. It can be found just up from the harbour and has a log burning stove. For watching sunsets try the harbour bars in Alvor or The Cloque at the Castelos area of Rocha which is open from around 3pm and has a terrace overlooking the cliffs. The Casa do Rio in Alvor is set above the harbour and has fantastic views out over the bay.

On a Sunday it is nice to walk on the sand dunes in Alvor before working up an appetitie for Sunday lunch. For a traditional roast dinner try Drakes in Alvor but booking is advised!

The area has something to offer everyone and the Portuguese are exceptionally friendly hosts to their visitors.

The apartment is lovely, the best equipped we have stayed in to date. All the little extras were much appreciated. The location is great for a family holiday. The girls loved the indoor pool. The weather was lovely too. A perfect setting for a week of sun before the UK winter really hits! We have all said we would like to return to this apartment, perhaps in the summer next time. Thank you Sally for the rental of your lovely apartment and for waiting up to meet and greet us here on arrival even after our flight was delayed and it was 2.30 in the morning when we eventually arrived!!. This has been a working holiday for us and it was so lovely to return at night to such a comfortable and tranquil apartment - sit on the balcony in the cosy slippers and poncho's you thoughtfully left out for us and just relax!!
