This is a beautifully designed house, situated in the cobbled streets in the historic old town. It is a few minutes walk through these beautiful streets to the town square and river gilao and a stone's throw from the castle and churches that Tavira is famous for. The house has four bedrooms, two bathrooms a spacious lounge and well equipped kitchen. Its three pleasant outside areas on three different levels offer opportunities for al fresco dining and sunbathing as well as having views over Tavira's roof tops to the surrounding countryside
The house is tiled in terracotta throughout, and has white walls, dark wood and high ceilings, evoking traditional portuguese style. However it only fifteen years old and has been skillfully designed to meet the needs of modern living.
Ground Floor
The front door opens into a hallway which runs to the garden at the back of the house. Both bathrooms and three bedrooms, plus the stairs lead off the hall. The first bedroom (9sq metres) is a nice room with bunk beds and a large wardrobe built into the wall, is ideal for children. At the end of the corridor are two larger bedrooms (11 sq metres & 12 sq metres) the smaller has two single beds which (with a matress topper, kingsized sheets and duvet - all provided) can be pushed togther to make a very large double bed if required. It has a large wardrobe and a door to the garden. The other bedroom (pictured) has a kingsize bed, large wardrobe built into the wall and french windows that open into the garden. The bathrooms are tiled in traditional style, one has a w/c, sink, bath (with shower) and bidet, the other w/c, sink & shower cubicle.
First Floor
The stairs from the hallway open into a large open plan sitting/dining room. On this level is the large balcony (12 sq metres) which has two doors leading back into the living area making it an outside extenion to this area and ideal for eating out as the kitchen is also on his level, next to one of the doors to the balcony. It is furnished, amongst other things, with two large sofas, large dining table, TV and DVD.
The roof is of the traditional pointy Portuguese type and the ceilings beneath each peaked roof section go to the very top maybe 20ft high giving a very airy feel to the first floor. The kitchen which leads of the living area has a vaulted ceiling of its own as does the small bedroom which leads off the kitchen (seven sq metres, 1 single bed desk & wardrobe) and has two windows looking over the cobbled streets.
The kitchen is well stocked with as much cuttlery, crockery, glasswear & cooking utensils (modern & matching) as could possibly be needed
The walled garden (29 sq meters) has a door leading to the street and is reached from the house by the two large bedrooms. It is pleasantly planted and decorated and the bougainvillia is spectacular. It has a steel table and matching chairs (pictured) and is a particularly romantic spot.
On the first floor the balcony looks over the town and is furnished with a table and chairs. A staircase leads from here to the roof terrace.
The large roof terrace (about 15 sq metres, pictured) is ideal for sunbathing. It gets the sun all day and is ideal for an evening drink, when the birds do aerobatics and the sun can be seen sinking over the horizon. It is furnished with another table, chairs and two nice sun loungers.
