Beach: 
 
A 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk is Vilamoura's 2 blue flag beaches which stretch for about 5 miles. The villa is close to the town of Quarteira (10 minutes in car but can also be accessed by a 5 minute walk from the Marina) where a super fresh fish and vegetable market are open every day. There is also a lovely promenade running along side the beach which brings the walker/s to the beach of Vale de Lobo. 
 
Golf: 
 
Villa Rafales is about a 3 minute walk to The Pinhal Golf Course and in Vilamoura there are 6 of the best courses on the Algarve, the newest being Victoria which held the Golf World Cup in 2005 and is rated one of the best courses in Europe. Vilamoura has 6 championship standard 18 hole courses: The Old Course, The Pinhal Course, The Laguna; The New Victoria, The Millennium Course and Vila Sol. The Portuguese Open has been played at Vila Sol for two years running.

The nearest supermarket is a 5 minute walk, The Old Village is a pleasant 10 minute walk from the villa which has a supermarket, restaurants and bars. The marina is an easy 15-20 minute walk/5 minute drive. Quarteira, Almancil and Loule (all traditional Portuguese villages with restaurants, shops, bars and banks) are a 10-15 minute drive from the villa. There is a 'Swim and Slide' park 10 minutes drive away.
