Vacation Rental Description
Cerro da Horta is a renovated Algarve farmhouse, now the owners family home, with a separate wing (East Wing) for bed and breakfast visitors. It is built on a hillside, in a small scattered village, and has a series of terraces with fruit trees, lawns and a large filtered pool (no chlorine is used). There is a large south-facing terrace for the use of visitors, which affords lovely views over orange groves, carob tree plantations and small cultivated fields. The whole area is rural and peaceful. We have an extra room with bunkbeds, suitable for children. On the whole we do not consider our property as advisable for children under 5: the garden is a series of quite steep terraces, and the unfenced swimming pool is a little distance from the house (partly visible from the terrace but much of it obscured by trees and bushes. We have cats and dogs, all safe and friendly.
Facilities

The large double bedroom with private bathroom has its own entrance to and from the terrace. The 2 other twin-bedded rooms share a large family bathroom. These 2 rooms are only let together to a family or group of friends, so occupants of one room are assured of privacy. There is a small living room with doors onto the terrace, containing facilities for tea and coffee making, sofas and a TV/DVD (no satellite). There are no kitchen facilities but snacks and picnics can be catered for and plates and glasses washed

    • The beaches of Alvor, Albufeira and others are about 35 minutes drive from the house, on good roads. The atractions of the Slide and Splash, Zoomarine, and the Algarve Animal Park are within half an hour's drive. Silves, a historic castle town, is 20 minutes away, and has a selection of shops, cafés, some good restaurants and bars, and several supermarkets. Messines, 10 minutes to the north and the nearest town, also has good restaurants, shops and a market. Half an hour away there is the Algarveshopping, a bustlng shopping centre with a lively atmosphere, good shops, good restaurants and a Lusomundo with multiple cinemas, all showing the latest films, nearly all in English. The area of Vale Fuzeiros is on the "Algarve Way", a hiking and riding path going right across the Algarve from the Spanish border to Cape St. Vincent. These local paths have Neolithic remains, well-marked, and signposts to guide walkers.
