Vacation Rental Description
This delightful holiday villa is located in the four star resort of Ponta Grande, a short walk from the stunning Sao Rafael beach. Here guests can enjoy the perfect holiday! The villa is set in beautifully landscaped gardens, with excellent swimming pool, children's pool, tennis court and a safe children's play garden. There is lovely Italian restaurant with very reasonabbly priced menu, and a charming bar which has frequent entertainment in high season. Wireless broadband internet service is available at the reception area. The resort is very safe with electronic gates for guest access, and there is 24 hour security. There is a small supermarket, deli an bakery within a 3 minute walk.The villa has a sun terrace with patio dining table & chairs complete with parasol. There is ample parking beside the villa. The spacious lounge has a marble fireplace and two large sofas (beds). The TV has sattelite channels. A huge picture window with sliding doors leads to the sun terrace. There is a dining table, six chairs and sideboard. The fully fitted kitchen has electric oven and hob, extractor unit, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster. The master bedroom has a wonderful uninterrupted view across the countryside, and in the evening the sunsets over the hills are in full view. Bedroom 2 is on the mezzanine level and has twin beds. There are large fitted wardrobes, complete with safe. Main bathroom upstairs has bath, shower, wc, bidet, basin, large vanity unity and mirrored wall. Shower room on the ground floor has shower, wc, basin set in vanity unit and mirror. Bedlinen and towels are included and are changed weekly.
The local beach of Sao Rafael is a 5 minute walk, and it won 'Best Beach in Portugal' award in 2008. The nearby cliff walk leads to hidden coves and private beaches, has a colourful array of flowers in Spring, and provides spectacular views of the unique coastline. There are many other small and private beaches along this stretch of coast line which are joined by a spectacular cliff walk. Albufeira is a ten minute drive away and has excellent shopping and good value restaurants. The nearby picturesque marina offers water sports and cruises. The nearest golf course of Salgados is a 5 minute drive. The historic town of Silves, which is the old Moorish Capital of the Algarve, is a 30 minute drive. And for a fun-filled family day, hop in the car for a mere 30 minute ride to water parks like Slide & Splash and Zoomarine, where you can swim with dolphins.
There is a great choice of restaurants. From the villa you can walk to a handful of charming local restaurants which offer Portugese cuisine. Some are located overlooking the beaches where you can dine by moonlight listening to the sound of waves breaking on the beaches. Take a taxi into Albufeira to find an amazing selection of restaurants in the old town square where you will be serenaded by street musicians.
There are excellent supermarkets in Albufeira, and for an enjoyable shopping experience for the whole family, the Algarve Shopping center offers fashion, footware, jewelry, books, toys, games, arts and crafts as well as a cinema is a short drive away. There is also a Nike factory outlet which offers discount prices.
Ponta Grande is an amazing place where families love to enjoy a relaxing holiday and many return year after year.

Nestled in southern Portugal is the majestic paradise of Algarve, praised for its unparalleled climate, picturesque beaches, and spectacular cliffs. The Portuguese Moorish architecture is reknowned for its whitewashed houses, extravagant chimneys, and welcoming terraces. Close by is the old town of Albufeira with quaint cobbled streets full of music and dance performers. Carvoeiro and Alvor are nearby lively fishing villages that have preserved their historical charm. Other notable areas include Alte, famous for its 16th century church and Lagos, from where the Portuguese discoverers of the 15th Century set out. The idyllic temperatures make Algarve ideal for playing golf and other sports. The nearest golf course of Salgados is a 5 minute drive. There are water sports, cruises and fishing trips available at the marina.
Families can enjoy the nearby water parks. At Zoomarine where they can swim with dolphins!

We stayed at this resort August 2010, took our three children and grandchild. A long flight from Canada, but well worth the trip. The owner made sure everything was perfect, she was very helpful, even checked out a rental agency for our car. Will certainly be going back.

Sao Rafael Haven
As a family we first visited the Ponta Grande resort ten years ago. Our three children quickly made friends, with the result that we had a great holiday!. We had such a good time and made such wonderful friends, we returned the following summer. We continued to return every year and eventually bought a villa in 2005. Now we have the opportunity to visit four or five times a year, and make use of the lovely warm weather during the low season. Every time we visit we discover something new which adds to the special experience of visiting this part of the Algarve.
Our latest discovery was the thrill of paragliding! Pedro and Juan, who are friendly and helpful brothers, brought our family and friends out for a day's paragiding - it was such fun we went back for more!!
The thrill of the water park never leaves us, and every year we return to Slide and Splash - where the fun trying all of the water slides stays in our memories!
One of our favourite restaurants is the Sunshine Bar which is a short walk from the villa. It is a family owned, rustic restaurant whose speciality is Stone Steaks! It must be the best steak we have tasted - and the novelty of cooking your own steak to your taste on a hot stone, is perfect for a festive occasion!
