Live like an aristocrat for your holiday! This very large self catering holiday manor house is located in the Natural Reserve of the river Sado in the famous town of Alcácer do Sal. This beautiful manor house at the heart of historical Alcacer do Sal used to belong to the only Viscount of the town in the mid 19th century and was completely restored 5 years ago by its new owners. This astonishing villa has the charm and elegance of an old manor house but with all the facilities of modern life. The town of Alcacer is extremely safe and perfect for a family holiday in a picturesque setting. The villa is so large and well set out that it comfortably caters for groups as large as 12!  
 
The villa is on 3 floors and boasts ample outside space with a large private heated swimming pool. 
 
On the ground floor of Solar Visconde de Alcacer there is a large living area with seating for 12, a comfortable dining area with seating for up to 8 people and a cosy fireplace that can take the chill off colder winter days. The modern kitchen is spacious and well equipped, and has a breakfast area with seating for 8. The living room opens via the terrace to the pool and garden. The terrace has outdoor furniture and is a lovely location for outdoor meals. Finally on this floor there are also outdoor and indoor patio meal areas seating up to 12. These spaces have barbecue equipment and are directly linked to the living/dining area.  
 
 
Two double bedrooms are also situated on the ground floor: one with en-suite bathroom with a bath, shower, lavatory and bidet and the other one with access to a WC. There is also a single bedroom on the ground floor with its own shower room.  
 
 
 
Finally on this floor there are also outdoor and indoor patio meal areas seating up to 12. These spaces have barbecue equipment and are directly linked to the living/dining area. 
 
The first floor has one large double bedroom with en-suite bathroom.  
 
On the third floor, there are 2 more bedrooms: one twin bedroom with shower room and one double bedroom. There is another large living room with giant screen TV, sofas TV and even some gym equipment.  
 
 
All floors are very spacious and comfortable providing total privacy even for large groups. There are 3 fold-out beds for bigger groups. 
 
The lovely 11m x 5m rectangular shaped swimming pool is located beyond the terrace of Solar Visconde de Alcacer in the walled garden, an ideal place for sunbathing and outdoor family activities. Sun loungers and other pool furniture are provided.  
 
The villa has its own garage for private parking of up to 2 cars. More free car parking is available just outside the gates of the property.

Comporta beach is under 30 minutes by car. It is situated within the wonderful Sado Estuary Nature Reserve and the beaches offer good facilities and the next almost deserted beach is never too far away. 
Sailing, windsurfing and rowing are all available in the safe bay of the Sado estuary, with surfing and kite surfing at Comporta beach.The tennis club in Alcacer can be used by guests (small fee applies).  
Fabulous 9/18 hole golf courses at Troia/Herdade da Comporta and Montado, close to Setubal, are just a short drive away.At the western end of Alcacer hacking as well as covered and open air exercise yards are available. The school provides tuition with qualified instructors.The region is famed for its gastronomy, with its fresh grilled fish being an inexpensive delight. Five formal wine routes have been devised in the Setubal peninsula by the ‘Rota de Vinhos’ association, combining wine tasting with sightseeing, arts and nature.

• Travel Info: 2 hours flight from most European cities and 7 hours from New York, the villa is reached by car from Lisbon airport in 1 hour. Faro airport is 2 hours away. A car is not essential but recommended to enjoy the many delights of the area fully. There are several supermaerkets, restaurants and other amenities just outside your doorstep.

Large Comporta holiday villa Close to Alcácer do Sal, 70km South East of Lisbon, which boasts a castle recently restored from Moorish ruins on a promontory dominating the peaceful valley of the River Sado. In Roman times the small town was an important centre for harvesting salt and there is a record of a fort existing as early as the 6th century BC. The area is also well known for its vast variety of birds and its many stork nests. We also recommend that you visit the Rice Museum at Comporta and the village of Torrão.

To the South is the town of Sines, known for its important port. Its beautiful, well preserved castle overlooks the narrow streets of the old centre. Sines also has several small sandy beaches, with panoramic views of the west coast. Also to the South is Santiago do Cacém, a lovely town full of character well worth a visit. To the north is Setúbal, known for its delicious fresh fish.

And of course Lisbon is an easy day trip, reached in less than an hour on the motorway.
